HOW TO INSTALL AND RUN ORBIT FROM THE HARD DISK        22 Sep 1991

1. Introduction

ORBIT will not run on a 512 kB Amiga as it needs a very minimum of 1 MB ram,
but 2 MB are better.

ORBIT runs best when installed on a hard disk.
It can, however, also be run with 2 or even one diskette drive. If you do
not have a hard disk read first the content for files Orbit.install.floppy,
then jump to section 3. of this text.

2. Installation on a hard disk

Assuming that you have un-lharc-ed ORBIT in RAM: or vd0:, you should
copy the entire directory Orbit in the root of your your hard disk.
      > Copy RAM:orbit dh0: ALL CLONE
      > Copy RAM:orbit.info dh0: ALL CLONE    (for WorkBench users)

3. Additional files

In addition to the standard AmigaDOS environment ORBIT needs:
- The following libraries MUST be in the libs: directory
  * arp.library (version 39.1 or higher),
  * iff.library,
  * mathieedoubbas.library,
  * orbit.library (my own)
- some ARP (or AmigaDos) commands:
  in particular Dir, Version and Type in c: .
- the ConMan console handler, if you will wish to open a CLI on the ORBIT
  screen. Conman is shareware, copyright by William S. Hawes.
  Please get the latest version available in the Fish disks.
- the More program, somewhere on the command path.
- IconJ in c: or dh0:orbit, if you run ORBIT from WorkBench.

4. Program execution

The main program is found in the directory orbit1.
ORBIT can be run from Workbench via IconJ, just doubleclick the Orbit.iconj
icon: this will open a normal CLI and execute the script Orbit.exec.

To run from CLI, execute the script Orbit.exec or, if you prefer the
step-by-step procedure, first assign the logical unit Orbit1: and
Orbit2: to respectively the orbit1 and orbit2 directories, for instance:
> Assign Orbit1: dh0:orbit/orbit1
> Assign Orbit2: dh0:orbit/orbit2
then enter
> Stack 20000  (very important !!)
> CD Orbit1:
> Path Orbit1:Orbit_c ADD   (Do not forget !)
> Run Orbit.99.run

5. Distribution content

Read the enclosed file Orbit.dist for the content of the orbit1/ and orbit2/
directories.

6. Notes on commands in c:

Read file orbit.AmigaDos.files for a list of all files in the standard
AmigaDos directories which are used for running ORBIT.
Only Dir, Type, Version and More are execute()d  within ORBIT and should
imperatively be either in c: or in Orbit1: .
Several other commands are used in the several installation script files or
in the Orbit.iconj and Orbit.exec script file required to run ORBIT from
WorkBench.

7. Libraries in libs:

ORBIT will NOT run if arp.library, mathieedoubbas.library and orbit.library
are not in the standard libs: directory.
