MicroVitec 1438S Monitor Preferences v1.00 for AmigaOS 40.70.

I  am sick and tired of all preference files, patches, fixes etc.  that has
promised  to  improve  the  screenmodes  capabilitys  while  using a MV1438
monitor.  I've tested all I have come over (~10-15) and just a few has done
any  improvements at all, if any.  Obviously there are differencies between
the  monitors  (yes  it's  really  strange, indeed).  I am using my MV1438S
together  with  my  A4000 equipped with Kickstart 40.70 and Workbench 40.42
(3.1).

However, I have tested and experimented myself for awhile with this monitor
and came up with the archive you have here, the results looks like this:

DblNtsc          59Hz, 28.96kHz - Less black border
DblPal           49Hz, 28.86kHz - Less black border
Euro36           73Hz, 15.76kHz - No black border       (small Flicker)
Euro72           65Hz, 29.18kHz - Same, but brighter display
MultiScan        55Hz, 28.82kHz - Same, but brighter display
NTSC             60Hz, 15.72kHz - No black border       (only overscanned)
PAL              50Hz, 15.60kHz - No black border       (only overscanned)
Super72          72Hz, 24.62kHz - No Black border       (small Flicker)

Add this to your startup-sequence in order to execute the monitors as they
should be:

Copy  all  files  to  your system to DEVS:Monitors/ and to ENVARC:Sys/, and
reboot.  Hopefully everything will work for you.

You  can patch the screenmodes up a few Hz for some of the screenmodes, but
you  won't  gain  that  much.  Using 'VGAOnly' is required, if not you will
loose  quite much, the DblNtsc and DblPal modes will be visible smaller but
the  resolution  will  be the same resulting in a very odd display. This
package WILL NOT work if you are not using VGAOnly!!

A  hint for those who has OS3.0 or don't get this to work and uses VGAOnly,
try  to  decrease the amount of TOTCLKS for the screenmodes (using MonEd or
edit- ing the tooltypes by your own), it helped me atleast.

In  a  review  on  the M1438S Monitor someone wrote 'I have noticed a black
border in the bottom and on the right side', this can easily be solved with
my  small  Shell  utility  'Border Blank', also found in this archive.  The
'gray'  parts will go away and you will get it black all over instead of on
two sides, looks really nice.

I  am  also  currently  disassembling  the monitor files from C= to rewrite
them, and perhaps make them a bit better. Keep your eyes open and you might
catch them.
