(c)Copyright Oct-Dec. 1992 , By Paul Spijkerman This utility will turn a Nodelist into an easy to read ANSI screen. By using some flags (in a configuration file) you can select only the normal nodes , so it will make a nice "byescreen" or something like that. Features: - Indicates Real modem speed, compression flag and modem type - Shows online time - Phone number translation - "ANSI-compression" no unnecessary ANSI-codes - One configuration file with all nodelists - speed about 40 secs per 100KB nodelist on a 8 Mhz 68000 ===( History )================================================ About a half year ago we started a little net in the direct neaberhood, I was de third member and got a nice function. I had to make ANSI-screens from the nodelists. The first time it was fun, the second time it was a crime (we didn't had diff. files then). So I started to write a program which made them fully automatically. Later I thought it would be nice if I had an information menu in which users can find some information about the nets and look at the nodelists. So the program got a configuration file for multiple nets. ===( How to install )======================================== Place NLTOSCR in de utilities directory or a directory you've made for it, in the last case you have to specify a path. Usage: NLTOSCR [] The default configuration file is Xconfig:NLToScr.CFG so you only have to specify a name if you put the configuration somewhere else. Note that you have to specify the exact name of the nodelist (No wildcards). Also note that the extention of the nodelist name is not mandatory. In a maintenance script this would be more practical: cd Xin: list >ram:bat nodelist.??? lformat="NLTOSCR %s" execute ram:bat cd Xenolink: Where you of course have to change "nodelist" in the name of the/a nodelist. Note that you only need one configuration file for all nodelists you want to turn into ANSI screens. A sample maintenance script to make screens automaticaly from incoming nodelists is suplied in this archive. ===( The Configuration file )================================ For every Nodelist you want to procces you have to make an entry in de configuration file. Starting with the keword nodelist: followed by 1 or more spaces and the name of the list without the .nnn part. f.i. nodelist: tcclist Every nodelist entry is terminated with a endentry keyword. Between these keywords there are 6 mandatory keywords: (note that only the part from a matching nodelist: command untill the endentry command is parsed.) 1. The Path and name of the ANSI screen. output: xbulletins:TCCans.gr1 2. The Path and name of an ANSI headerfile. header: xenolink:tcc/header.ans 3. The Path and name of an ANSI footerfile. footer: xenolink:tcc/footer.ans 4. The number you have to add to dial out of the country. Addforeign: 09- 5. The number of the country you live in. (The netherlands is 31) Local: 31- 6. The number you have to add to a local number to make it dialable. Addlocal: 0 Also there are a few options: Do you want an ANSI file starting with a @. keyword: donotuse@ or use@ (default: donotuse@) Do you want node entries beginning with Zone,Region,Host,Hub,Pvt and Point displayed. Keyword: hosts or nohosts (default: nohosts) If you want to filter out nodes with special functions, by checking out the beginning of the BBSname use the filter: keyword followed by the the first karakters of the name, default : no filter is used. If nodes do not want in an ANSI-screen of your net, you can specify a flag for that node in the nodelist. Define this flag in the configuration with the keyword nodisplayflag followed by the flag you made up, default : no flag is defined. ===( Interpretation of a nodelist )========================== Entrys with a bbsname starting with "Undef" will be ignored !!! Entrys starting with Down will be ignored. Entrys with the mail only (MO (no human callers)) flag will be ignored. If in the configuration the filter: command is used all entrys with a bbsname starting with the defined string will be ignored. Note that capitals in this case stay capitals. All comment lines will be ignored. Modem speed is determined by the V21,V22,V22B,V32,V32B flags, or the 1200,2400,4800,9600,19200,38400 speed indicator. The highest speed is used. For instance: a V32B flag overrules a 9600 speed indicator resulting in a speed of 14400 baud. Flags used voor types of modems: <- default , no type is indicated HST <- for USRobotics modem with HST norm 9600 baud (or higher) H14 <- for HST capable modems with 14400 baud H16 <- for HST capable modems with 16800 baud ZYX <- for ZyXEL Fax modems (with speeds of 16k8,19k2 or higher) H96 <- Hayes V9600 modem MAX <- Microcom AX/96xx series modem PEP <- Packet Ensemble Protocol modem CSP <- Compucom Speedmodem Flags for compression: <- default, no compression flag is specified MNP <- ignored if V42 or V42B flag is present. V42 <- ignored if V42B flag is present V42B <- LAP-M data correction/ BLTZ compression Flags starting with DA,SA,SU,TU,WE,TH and FR will be printed entirely in the online-times column. Note : that MO (Monday) is not in the list because this is the Mail Only flag. The country part of local numbers is removed and a number to make it dialable is added at the start of the number. For numbers outside your country a number is added to the start of the number to make it dialable. ================================================================== Still thinking about: Implementing dupe checking.
