@node "FAQ" "Frequently asked Questions - FAQ"

   @{u}Questions and Answers for most common problems during the usage of FAME.@{uu}

@{b}Q:@{ub} After adding a new Door and starting it, FAME does not start the door, the
cursor only wraps to the next line, and nothing more happens.

@{b}A:@{ub} Check out the "DoorType" in SystemEditor/Doors for the tool, maybe you
have set the @{b}FIM@{ub} flag for an @{b}AMIEX@{ub} door etc. Always use the right door-
type, or FAME won't be able to start the door. You may kick out the
door which crashed by using the CloseButton/Close door option.
___________________________________________________________________________

@{b}Q:@{ub} After adding a new door and trying to start it, FAME always displays
   the errormessage: '@{fg fill}Can't find custom command!@{fg text}'

@{b}A:@{ub} Check out the Path to the door in SystemEditor/Doors! It may contain
the wrong path to the door.
___________________________________________________________________________

@{b}Q:@{ub} I've placed some textfiles containing calls to cli-programs in the Node
batches directories, but FAME won't execute them ! Also other Script-
files are not executed by FAME.

@{b}A:@{ub} Check out the '@{b}S@{ub}' bit of all textfiles you want to execute in FAME ! If
this is not set, FAME won't start them! Simply use the DOS-Command
   @{fg shine}PROTECT <FILENAME> +S@{fg text} and everything is fine.
___________________________________________________________________________

@{b}Q:@{ub} I want to use the resident feature of FAME, so I've inserted a new line
   to '@{fg fill}FAME:SETTINGS/FAMESTART.BAT@{fg text}':

                   @{b}RESIDENT FAME:MODULES/MAINPART PURE@{ub}

But FAME won't use this feature, MainPart will be loaded into memory
for each Node I have regardeless if I write the line above or not.

@{b}A:@{ub} If you want to run resident programs, you @{b}*MUST*@{ub} remove all path
information for those programs, so only the Filename remains. So go into
SystemEditor/Node Datas and remove (for every Node you want to have
MainPart resident) the Path @{fg shine}FAME:Modules/@{fg text}, and so only the FileName '@{b}MAINPART@{ub}'
remains in the MainPart Location field. That's it!! You could also check
out if the resident version is used by entering '@{fg fill}RESIDENT@{fg text}' in a DOS-
prompt. This shows a list of all currently used resident Programs and
contains also a counter which indicates how many times this program
   has been used.

@{b}Q:@{ub} I'm changing from Amiex to FAME and want to use some of the
old Amiex doors under FAME, but they won't start or are displaying errors.

@{b}A:@{ub} Some of the Amiex icons are missing, the following icons are the most
   important ones:
                        Icon @{b}|@{ub} Path to copy
                   @{b}----------------+------------------@{ub}
                   ConfConfig.info @{b}|@{ub} FAME:
                   <CONFNAME>.info @{b}|@{ub} FAME:Conferences/
ACP.info @{b}|@{ub} Same dir like the FAME server.

For some doors also the access icons (FAME:Access) are required. To
avoid problems, configure FAME to your personal wishes, including
conference accesses, levels, conferences and Nodes. After you've
   finished, use ByteAndi's CLI-Tool '@{fg fill}MAKEICON@{fg text}' to create all of the
required Icons including the Tooltypes! Also check out the Doortype and
set it to XIM for amiex Tools!!!
___________________________________________________________________________

@{b}Q:@{ub} I have installed an amiex door correctly, but it won't start,
and I'm sure that I've made no mistakes during the installation.

@{b}A:@{ub} Maybe you've forgotten to set the right Doorport name in the doorport-
names settings. To emulate the Amiexport, enter @{fg shine}AEDoorPort@{fg text} in the
XIMDoorPort field. Note that this name is case-sensitive!
___________________________________________________________________________

@{b}Q:@{ub} Is it possible to use Paragon doors, and what is the name of the Paragon
   port ?

@{b}A:@{ub} Paragondoors are supported by FAME.Use as Doortype '@{fg shine}TIM@{fg text}' and name the
   port '@{fg shine}DoorControl@{fg text}' (TIMDoorPort).
