4. Game news from around the world

Skip this if you've already heard: The games "Whale's Voyage 1 & 2, Black Viper, Spherical Worlds and Fightin' Spirit", were published by Alive Mediasoft but without a licence from Neo Software, the original manufacturer. That's what Neo told "Back to the Roots", when they sought permission for free distribution of those games. The good news is that Neo gave Back2theRoots permission and the games can be downloaded from http://www.back2roots.org/.

The Heretic II add-on "Siege" has been released. It requires the Heretic II full version and can be downloaded from the Aminet. There's more: the first update for Heretic II has been released which fixes some nasty bugs.

A demo of the multi-player network game "Tales of Tamar" has been released to the Aminet. The demo represents the current status of development, and is a hefty download at 11 MB. The final game is supposed to run on many platforms and it is likely the Amiga version will become freeware.

"Middle City" is a new adventure game for the Amiga, currently under development. It is about a private eye trying to solve a case of murder. The game is in an early state and a demo version is expected in late December.

The CD³² alliance announced that it would close down on August 14th. It was unable to meet its targets. However, the website and the CD³² corner will stay online.

AmigaLand (http://www.vivaline.de/matt/) have a licence from Ascaron (the former Ascon) to offer "Der Patrizier", "Anstoss" and "Anstoss World Cup Edition" for free download from their website. They also have licences for "1869", "Burntime" and "Oldtimer".

According to Apex Design "Payback" will be released in late October/early November. In addition, the game will be distributed by Blittersoft.
