The edition of April 2000 of the English Amiga magazine Amiga Format, which has many readers in Germany, too, is the last edition. The Amiga Format now exists since 10 years and has been note for its independence and knowledge. In my opinion the loss of this high quality is very painful for the Amiga community. The only bright spot is: Ben Vost said in a pres release that Amiga Format will be the first magazine reporting about the real return of Amiga technology.
Epic Marketing announced, that the Amiga version of Simon the Sorcerer II is currently in the beta test phase. The final version will be released in late April. Let's wait and see.
Hyperion Software has nearly finalized Heretic II. If all goes well, the final game will be released within the next days. Then Heretic II would be the most lavish 3D shooter ever made for the Amiga. In addition Heretic II will make complete use of the PowerPC as well as 3D extensions as present.
Those of you, who kept an eye on the Gremlin website might noticed, that suddenly the Amiga returned on it. Some days later there was the first announcement. Gremlin works on Zool 3, the successor the the well known jump 'n' run from 1993. Zool offers a 2D mode (68k) as well as a 3D mode for PowerPC Amigas alone. The game comes in a disk version as well as on CD-ROM. There will also be a DVD version, but at this point for PCs only. According to A. Foolsday of Gremlin Software Zool 3 will be revolutionary for the computer game world, because the player can merge with the game events thank to the also shipped cyberPACK(tm). So the user of the cyberPACK(tm) and of the Internet can merge with it at any time. The Amiga version will be released approximately 1 year later, which will be on April 1, 2001, because the cyberPACK(tm) hardware has to be developped for Zorro3.
The website of Digital Dreams Entertainment recently got a new layout. Also various sections were updated, so there are e.g. some screenshots from Codename: HellSquad.
As already speculated during the last months Hyperion Software got another licence for a 3D shooter. This time they licenced Sin from Activision Inc. The game is based on the Quake 2 engine from ID Software, as Heretic II is. This is why Hyperion expects to release the game late 2nd quarter of 2000. The Amiga version requires a PowerPC and supports Warp3D as well as the OpenGL implementation of Hyperion Software.
According to Epic Marketing the action role game Dafel: Bloodline will be released in May. The game will be released in an AGA as well as in an RTG version. Faster processors will be rewarded with more graphic effects as light, transparency and fog. In addition Dafel: Bloodline offers AHI support.
Medici Software released a new demo version of their jump 'n' run game Ali Baba. You can read a first preview in this edition of the game section.
Alive Mediasoft also brings some new releases with them: Cedric and the Search of the Magic Scepter has already been released and Super Taekwando Master will follow in April. Cedric is very likely to be a new release of the Cedric classic of Neo and Alcatraz (1995). After that The Giana Sisters Trilogy and Ultimate X-Treme Racing are to be released. Meanwhile both games should be released. Ultimate X-Treme Racing offers new tracks, music and cars. But the engine of the game is still the same. In addition Whale's Voyage 2 and Goal 2000 have been improved. Both can be installed easier, now, and they offer new intros. For those, who already own the games will get a patch made available. Frank Wille has released a new revision of his Quake port for WarpOS/Warp3D. It can be downloaded from http://devnull.owl.de/~frank/GLQuakeWOS.gz.

A team of developers has the high-flown plans to create a successor of Indiana Jones IV. The whole project has the name "IndyProject". They work on the IndyProject since 1998 and meanwhile they realized quite a lot. The complete game will be released as freeware and run on many systems, as for the Amiga. A first MS-DOS demo can be downloaded from http://www.indyproject.de/.
Bert Jahn released a new revision of his ultimate HD installer for OS killers. WHDLoad 10.6 is mainly a bugfix. The update can be downloaded on http://www.whdload.org/.
Also the website of The World Foundry was redesigned. In addition they updated and redesigned the complete Explorer2260 section.
At last Epic Marketing released a demo version of the 3D jump 'n' run game Tales from Heaven for graphics boards. Now the owners of graphics bards can have "Mario64" fun.
