1. Addon to a Report about Experiences with WINUAE (by Werner Scholz)

Addon to a Report about Experiences with WINUAE

On the whole I agree with the opinion of the author. My last hardware Amiga, an A 1200 with Blizzard 1230 III, departed from his life months ago, so now I only have several UAEs and Fellows at my disposal ;-)

Opposite to a hardware Amiga UAE and Fellow have the big advantage to run with any VGA resp. SVGA monitor. You never again will need a flickerfixer, scandoubler or expensive multiscan monitors ;-))) Perfect display in SVGA quality without interlace flicker! With hardware Amigas I never had anything comparable ;-)

As an additional advantage of WINUAE the 'Amiga' runs under Windows as a task in background. If necessary, it is even possible to have several 'Amigas' running simultaneously under Windows. That means, I may read your Amiga magazine with IBrowse and with a key press I'm in Eudora on the PC to write this letter to the editor. With the next Amiga I flipper a bit with Pinball Dreams under Fellow ;-) It can't be any more comfortable, especially if you bear in mind, that here I work with a laptop ;-) Even on my 233 Pentium II laptop WINUAE is quite fast. On my 450 AMD K6 II it appears to be faster than a A 1200 with a Turbo board ;-)

How fast WINUAE will run on one of the new 1 GHz computers you may picture by yourself. I guess faster than on any Amiga without PowerPC hardware ;-)

For games I additionally installed Fellow. Fellow runs with DOS and is quite a lot faster than UAE. It runs as well in a DOS window of Windows. E.g. Amiga's Pinball Fantasies run with Fellow extremly good and I for myself like it better than some of the PC flipper programs.

As long as there is nothing new by Amiga I'll stay with UAE and Fellow. And this merely because I am too obstinate to harp around with flickerfixers etc.
