Short: HD Installer for Lure of the Temptress *German* BETA 2 Type: game/patch Author: jffabre@ensica.fr (Jean-François Fabre) Uploader: jffabre@ensica.fr (Jean-François Fabre) Install-Script & HD-loader © 1996/1997 Jean-François FABRE LOTT is ©1992 Virgin --- Lure of the Temptress Hard Disk Installer --- This installer requires the Lure of the Temptress ORIGINAL disks (there are 4). For the moment, the loader only works with the german version, but the installer should work for any version. If you've got an unsupported version, please write to me. This game really needed a HD install. I think it's unplayable from floppy. FEATURES: - Full load from HD - Decrunch routine relocated in fast memory for more speed - Convenient installer script - Nice MWB icon - Manual protection removed - F10 quits the game at any time - Load/saves to HD or to floppy (customizable) - Tool included to convert the game save disk to files (ripsaves) useable by the HD load/save option ripsaves can be run either from WB or CLI. From CLI it accepts an argument (0 to 3) for the floppy unit. (e.g: ripsaves 1 for DF1:) Changes from BETA 1: - Fast decrunch (feel the difference) - 'Insert save disk' messages removed in HD save mode - MWB Icon added MEMORY: The HD-Patched game will need about 3Mb of memory with HDLOAD feature, 6Mb without HDLOAD To be able to quit, you'll need 4Mb of memory. BUGS (please read) I noticed some, but you can live with them: 1. At startup, the screen remains black during a while, and the title screen does not appear. I could not figure out why, but the game works fine after that... 2. If I don't specify NOFAST, the game crashes on exit. I have to dig this out. 3. If I don't specify NOCACHES, the game seems to work fine, but when I open the tap to get some water, the game badly crashes. I've got a 68060, so maybe that other CPUs will behave better with caches. If you can test it on a 68020 with the caches on and that it crashes, then I'll disable the caches in the code (no more choice) Thanks to Walter Geriolz and Thomas Lorenz for sending me the disks (well, next time, we'll coordinate better). Let German users enjoy this beta version and report me bugs. English and French version owners: please contact me for support of your version. Jeff
