Short: HD Installer for Lemmings *5 VERSIONS* Type: game/patch Author: jffabre@ensica.fr (Jean-François Fabre) Uploader: jffabre@ensica.fr (Jean-François Fabre) Install-Script & HD-loader ©1997 Jean-François FABRE Lemmings Budget is ©1992 Psygnosis. Oh No More Lemmings is ©1992 Psygnosis. --- Lemmings Budget Hard Disk Installer --- This installer requires the ORIGINAL disk from Lemmings,Lemmings Budget or Oh No More Lemmings. It should NOT work for cracked versions. The HD-Patched game will need about 2.5Mb of memory for the 1 disk version and 3.5Mb for the 2 disk version, but you can use the HDLOAD tooltype to reduce memory consumption (useless for 1 disk version). FEATURES: - Runs fully from RAM/HD - 5 versions supported. - Convenient installer script - Can be run either in PAL or NTSC (country check removed) - F10 quits the game - TRAINER tooltype gives infinite time SUPPORTED VERSIONS: - Lemmings Original PAL - Lemmings Original NTSC - Oh No More Lemmings NTSC - Oh No More Lemmings PAL - Lemmings Budget PAL If somebody has got Xmas Lemmings, Lemmings Budget NTSC, or any other unsupported version, please let me know. INSTALLING THE GAME: Just run the installer script relevant to your version. The installers will install different games in different directories so you can install all the versions at a time. When the disks are copied during installation, the pointer freezes. That's normal cause the game uses a custom trackload routine (copy-protection), and it does not easily multitask. To abort installation during the custom disk loading, just press the left mouse button. The installer also checks that you inserted the correct disk. In case of problem during the installation, you can partially re-install the game by hand using the rippsyfiles command. After that you just have to adjust the tooltypes and start the game by clicking on the LemmingsHD icon or by typing LemmingsHD in a shell. OPTIONS: I don't repeat them in every doc file I join to one of my installers. Read the doc I wrote to know the details. You'll find it on my http patch page. PAL: Forces the game tu run PAL mode. Useful when you have a NTSC amiga, useless otherwise, because the loader switches in 15KHz anyway. NTSC: Same thing for NTSC. QUIET: displays nothing and opens no window. No error messages, and no author message. NOCACHES: useful if you get unexplained crashes. The game will disable all caches at startup. NOFAST: forces use of chipmem for extension memory (can avoid problems) HDLOAD: only caches the small files in memory. Loads the big files during the game (useful if you don't have enough mem for the game or the quit option) THANKS: To D. Cresswell for providing the original of Lemmings Budget, beta-testing, trainer hints and file logging. To Troy Pladson for providing the original of Oh No More Lemmings. BUGS: The blocker bug in V0.9 was due to a remainder of copy-protection. I think I removed all checks, so the game works fully from HD. I also corrected a bug in the install script. Corrected a bug in V1.0: When quitting, a key remained pressed. Now this is fixed. There are some minor bugs in the intro animation (2 disk version). It works fine from floppy, and I can't figure out why this happens. Not serious anyway. If you find some bugs, or the game crashes, please e-mail me (specify your configuration). DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible for any damage caused directly or indirectly by this piece of software. DISTRIBUTION: This patch can be distributed freely, but I'd appreciate that you drop me a line if you include it in a coverdisk or PD collection. However, FFD (France Festival Distribution) is not allowed to include it in any of its PD disks (if you read usenet in fr.comp.sys.amiga, you'll know why). It's the only exception for the distribution.
