QuikPak selling inventory (31-Dec-96 )

Apparently, Quikpak sold inventory that belonged to AT, but that they [AT] had not yet paid. According to Jason Compton, this meant additional difficulties in the buyout process.

A4000 sales going very well (30-Dec-96 )

According to the January issue of Amazing Computing, A4000T sales are going very well. Newtek and Disney are two of the major buyers. Apparently QuikPak can't make A4000T's fast enough now.

Hembach paid by Microsoft? (30-Dec-96 )

A nice rumour comes from Greg Blanchard. He speculates that Microsoft is paying Hembach for keeping the Amiga out of the market. [A rumour, a joke, don't consider this as proof!]

No "White Knight" for the Amiga (30-Dec-96 )

George Noel expressed a quite good description of the Amiga's future. I think it is easy to see that the Amiga is not going to survive by ONE "White Knight" coming in and buying it out. A collective of Amiga companies is what is needed... until one is strong enough to handle it all.

VIScorp / Quikpak (30-Dec-96 )

Jason Compton answers a suggestion that VIScorp should support Quikpak, who are the new frontrunner for the acquisition of AT, with the words I think you can rule that one out. My impression is that QuikPak did not make a very good impression on VIScorp when they informed them that the AT inventory that QuikPak was holding would not be released.

Who is Hembach? (29-Dec-96 )

Hembach is the official Escom liquidator, and as such he is responsible for all the delays. However, he can't be replaced or forced to hurry, because of German law. Such a liquidator is something like a small god, nobody can command him once he is chosen by the court.

From Dr. Peter Kittel come some news about Pios and the Pios One. Dave Haynie is still busy working on the first working prototype. PIOS are very serious about shipping the ONE with p-OS; although the ONE will be released as multi-OS platform [BeOS, pOS, Linux].

According to AmigaFormat, QuikPak have bought the Amiga. [Which is quite unbelievable; a print magazine having information that isn't available on the Internet yet... This has to be considered as rumour, not truth!]

No NT for PPC (21-Dec-96 )

IBM have announced that they will stop all development for WindowsNT on the PowerPC. Microsoft and Bull are said to have prepared similar statements. So that leaves us with the Intel/Windows group on one side and the RISC computers with MacOS, Unix and others on the other side.

Amiga is not a bargain (21-Dec-96 )

Hembach wants an awful lot of money for something that independent observers say isn't worth it, Jason Compton thinks. He also said that the Battle For Best Buy was lost before it began and he hopes that the Amiga and its successors (BeBox, A\Box...) will be the computer for those who don't want to be part of the mainstream (PC).

News on Eagle bidding for AT (17-Dec-96 )

Apparently Eagle bid for Amiga Technologies in late November. They had the money cash, but the liquidator didn't accept the offer. The liquidator said in early December that there would be a decision within 20 or 22 days; which means before Christmas.

Rick Parks deceased (16-Dec-96 )

Famous Amiga artist Rick Parks died this morning. He was notably known for doing pictures that looked like raytraced or scanned, but that were hand-drawn in only few colours. About the most well-known of his creations was the 1989 Mickey Mouse glass.
