AMIGA-kompatibler Rechner "Access" von Index Information lizensiert
«AMIGA International, Inc., license Index Information Ltd to manufacture AMIGA based computers
Hampshire, England, July 1st, 1997- Following on from AMIGA International's recent announcements about an open licensing policy for the Amiga, an agreement has been reach which licenses Amiga developer Index Information Ltd to manufacture and distribute its own range of Amiga motherboards and computers.
Index Information work exclusively with the Amiga product range to develop hardware and software solutions for corporate applications. Index have developed the "Access" Computer, based on the Amiga Chip Set and Operating System. The agreement with AMIGA International allows the use of the AmigaOS, supply agreements on Amiga proprietary chips and the use of the "powered by Amiga" logo on all its products.
"We declared an open policy for licensing the technology of the Amiga and this is one of the first examples of that policy being placed in action. The excellence of the Amiga technology combined with the technical skills and market knowledge of companies such as Index will allow the Amiga to be used in a wider range of applications, broadening the market for software developers and integrators.", said Petro Tyschyschenko, President of AMIGA International, Inc.

PRODUKTBESCHREIBUNG
ZWECK
Der Access-Computer ist eine Niedrigkosten-Multimedia-Plattform basierend auf dem Amiga Chip Set und Operating System. Zusätzlich zu den Standard- Amiga-Spezifikationen besitzt Access CD-ROM, ein Floppylaufwerk und Kommunikationsmöglichkeiten. Das Design ist flexibel, so daß unterschiedliche Mutterplatinen gebaut werden können, die 90% gemeinsame Bauteile besitzen und in das gleiche Gehäuse passen. Mit Computer- kontrollierter Produktion können diese flexibel produziert werden, so daß kleine Mengen schnell und zu einem geringen Preis hergestellt werden können.
Wir haben die ersten Prototypen entwickelt und getestet und gehen jetzt über zu den ersten Vorserienmodellen. Davon sind die ersten bereits in der Testphase. Sie arbeiten ausgesprochen gut. Eine kleine Gruppe von Entwicklern erhält diese Einheiten für ihre Entwicklungsarbeit und weitere Tests.
Wir haben eine sehr beschränkte Zahl von Mutterplatinen vorrätig für Kunden, die an Projekten arbeiten, die die Kapazität besitzen, in der Zukunft ein großes Verkaufsvolumen zu entwickeln.
Die Mutterplatine paßt mit Montagerahmen und Floppy-Laufwerk in einen Standard- 5 1/4" -Rahmen. Die Montagemethode ist sehr flexibel und erlaubt es uns, die Mutterplatine in sehr unterschiedlichen Gehäusen zu montieren, sogar in Standard-PC-Gehäusen (obwohl die Tiefe von 297mm bei manchen Gehäusen Probleme bereitet). So haben wir Optionen von einem "Normal"-Paket mit CD-ROM bis zu einem kompakten 8-Einheiten-Tower für größere Installationen.

Zweck
Das Connect-Projekt stellt eine Heim-/Semiprofessionelle Mutterplatine für Multimediazwecke im mittleren Preissegment zur Verfügung. Diese basiert auf dem Amiga-Chipset und Betriebssystem. Diese Mutterplatine erlaubt es, komplette Geräte mit einem Preis zwischen A1200 und A4000 herzustellen, mit geringem Preis und Expansionsmöglichkeiten, aber der Performance eines A4000.
Die Marketingstrategie ist Verkauf über OEM-Händler, die die Einheit an ihre jeweiligen Märkte anpassen. Wir bieten geringe Kosten und die Möglichkeit der Anpassung an lokale Gegebenheiten und hoffen so, den Distributoren und Händlern die Möglichkeit zu geben, den Markt voranzutreiben und weltweit zu etablieren.

Die Mutterplatine wird zur Zeit entworfen. Wegen des engen Zeitplans für andere Produkte wird der Prototyp voraussichtlich erst in 2-3 Monaten fertig und Produktionseinheiten werden vor Weihnachten bei den Händlern eintreffen.

Computer City ist neuer AMIGA-Distributor für Benelux
«Computer City distributes the AMIGA line of computers in the Benelux
Rotterdam, The Netherlands, July 15th, 1997- Amiga International, Inc. and the Dutch Rotterdam-based company Computer City have agreed on a deal which will enable Computer City to distribute the Amiga line of computers in the Benelux.
Both end-users and dealers can contact Computer City for new purchases of Amiga computers as well as peripherals and support for existing models.
"This activity will help us to reinvigorate the Amiga market place in the Benelux. Our basic of succes is to work together with partners to build up the former market places and to find new ones and to be ready for new product distribution", said Petro Tyschtschenko, Managing Director of AMIGA International, Inc.
