All rights reserved. @{ui} @ENDNODE @NODE "Intro" "Introduction" @{u}Introduction@{uu} MagicFile got a bit big on the configuration side, and people were starting to have problems and get confused, so I thought I would write a Config Editor GUI to solve these problems, and more (especially updating from previous versions). It has a simple GUI to edit the main config, and you can also select Keyboard ED and Text ED from the menu, although currently Text ED does little more than launch ED. You can then change each of the items, they all relate to the config items (I did my best to keep the names of the items the same), using TAB to cycle through the string gadgets, also when you press TAB or RETURN in a gadget it will perform tests (e.g. to see if a directory exists) and inform you if there is a problem. @{u}Co-ords@{uu} The gadgets at the top relate to where the section name should be displayed on the screen (the @{b}MagicFile.Menu@{ub} & @{b}MagicFile.Expert@{ub} @{" ANSI " LINK ANSI}), which is the cursor position on the screen. The position for the ANSI included with MagicFile is 11 by 4. Next is where the number of files in the current section should be displayed on the screen, the standard for this is 74 by 4. Next is for the @{b}MagicFile.Menu@{ub}, it is where the cursor should be on the screen for input, the key pressed will also be printed here. The standard for this is 16 by 23. After that its for the @{b}MagicFile.Expert@{ub} screen, as the expert screen will not contain much information on it the prompt will be higher up on the screen. The standard for this is 16 by 13. @{u}Local Uploading & Downloading@{uu} This bit is for the Sysop side of MagicFile, the Local directory gadget is for where the local download & upload requesters start in, the @{b}V@{ub} gadget brings up a file requester which allows you to select the directory. The File comment import gadget allows you to tell MagicFile how to treat file comments (file notes)... @{b}Don't import@{ub} won't import file comments at all, @{b}No doutbful@{ub} won't import file comments it thinks are Internet sites or from a BBS and such, @{b}Ask doubtful@{ub} will look for Internet sites, etc but it will open a requester and ask you if you want to import it anyway (useful if it is wrong) and last @{b}Always import@{ub} will skip the checking which is useful if you don't actually get files off the net and your comms package doesn't write file comments. Delete upload source will remove files after you have performed a local upload, eg. if you uploaded @{b}Downloads:Dodgy.lha@{ub} and it had a @{b}.readme@{ub} file too, both would be deleted once imported into the filebase. @{u}Special Filebase Options@{uu} Upload execute stops MagicFile from doing its own direct file copying and instead leaves it upto a script which will read in a checking queue (held in T:) and should virus check each file. Two scripts are included with MagicFile, when you click on the @{b}V@{ub} gadget next to it, it will ask you for a script and MFConfigED will automatically add @{b}C:Run >nil: SYS:Rexxc/RX@{ub} to the beginning of the string (which is what you should use). The Global alias and Big CPS check boxes allow you to enable those features, Global alias enables users to set an alias that is used for every upload automatically (unless alias is ticked in the Section Configure in MAX's) and Big CPS enables a transfer statistics screen (with big CPS display) after downloads. The Number of marks gadget lets you set the maximum number of files a user can mark at once, this can be anywhere between 1 and 30! Actually, you may even be able to get away with upto 45. The area after the marked files list is only a buffer for reading messages, so you could use upto 45 as long as the user doesn't read a message. This is upto you, I have used 45 max for a while. Also, don't forget to change @{b}Line 305@{ub} in MAX's text configuration if you chose a value different from 30. The Uploads b4 downloads gadget sets the number of uploads that are required to be uploaded by the user before they can download any files (excluding files from the Filelist Download section). If you wish to disable this feature, simply enter 0. @{u}Sysop's Section Specials@{uu} The Sysop's directory is where all Sysop Uploads to go, this is a directory you thought up and created when you installed MagicFile. e.g. Sysops:. Again the little @{b}V@{ub} pops up a file requester and asks for a directory. Section for sysop files is the section number you want to use to store Sysop uploads in and Minimum access level is the minimum access level required to access it (also other Sysop functions) e.g. 5000. @{u}Link Sections & Main Section Configure@{uu} Link-sections are file sections which are many sections linked together allowing groups of sections, obviously, you cannot upload to link-sections because the BBS wouldn't know where to put the file! Choose a MAX's link (ie. 100, 101 or 102) and then go through your filebase and set the approriate link flag of each file sections you want in this link. Don't worry about access levels: MAX's will handle it. All of the link sections are optional but HIGHLY recommended. To set a link section, enter the section number (100 - Link 1 to 102 - Link 3) and a description for each section in the gadget next to it, if you want to disable a link section simply enter the section as 0 and leave the description blank. Example: 100 - All Amiga Links. The listview at the bottom contains section information with the section number and section path gadgets underneith, the Up and Down move the selected section Up/Down the list, Add and Delete add new sections or Delete sections from the list. Also again the little cute @{b}V@{ub} pops up a requester and lets you select a directory for that section. @{u}Menus@{uu} @{u}Project@{uu} Reset Resets the configuration items to defaults. Open Open a MagicFile 4.05/4.1 config and edit it. Import Import a configuration file from an older version of MagicFile. (Use this option to upgrade, currently only 2.7 is included). Save Save the configuration. Save as Save the configuration, ask for name of file first though. -------- About Displays some information about the editor. Quit Quits! @{u}Operation@{uu} Keyboard Editor Keyboard configuration editor (more below). Text Editor Runs c:ED with the text configuration of your choice. @{u}Keyboard Editor@{uu} A window will open with a whole bunch of string gadgets and a requester will pop-up asking for a Keyboard.cfg (MagicFile 3.5+) file to be loaded (cancel if you dont want to). Note: You cannot use the main config editor while the keyboard editor is in use (sorry). Each gadget has the operation next to it, simply enter the key of your choice into the relevant gadget and press ENTER or TAB to confirm (this will make the editor do some checks to see if you have duplicate keys), simply enter a - to disable a function. @{u}Menus@{uu} @{u}Project@{uu} Reset Resets the keys to defaults. Open Opens a requester and allows you to select a Keyboard.cfg to load. Save Saves the current file being edited (requester if new file). Save as Saves the current file but asks for a path & name via a requester. -------- Close Quits the keyboard editor and goes back to the main editor. OK..
