That keyfile may not be made available to another part. The registered version of AmiComSys has this advantages: * The positions of all the toolbars can be saved. You may "drag & drop" the GUI-components and then save it, so they retain the positions you have set the next time you start AmiComSys. * In the contact list you could see if a client is away or busy. There will be a "Zzz"-image for Away and a "X"-image for Busy inserted in front of all clients' nick name. * The content of the Message History buffer will be saved automatically when you disconnect or shutdown AmiComSys (optional). * You can ignore certain users' messages sent to you with the Ignore List, instead of using the less efficient bann-list in the Network settings. Via the registered version's Ignore List you can make it impossible for certain clients to send you messages, and they can't even get your System-info and Version-info. * All security options is enabled, e.g messages, SendFile and PChat can be turned off. * Send confirmation can be disabled. * A NotifyArexx.amicomsys script can be used. * A MessageArexx.amicomsys script can be used. * The Busy and Invisible options of the status-button are enabled. With the invisible status set you can log in without anybody seeing you! And when you don't want to be disturbed you can switch to busy status. * The message requesters can automatically be closed after you have sent a message. * You may have more than two plugins installed. Make sure to update the images for every now version of AmiComSys (some additional images with 2.0). If your AmiComSys screen has a lower size than 640x512 you shouldn't use the MagicWB-graphics-set. It's probably too big. If you put AmiComSys in the WBStartup drawer you must set the PROGDIR ToolType to the path of your AmiComSys directory. If you don't arexx scripts will not work. (SendWEB, SendFTP & SendIRC and the other ones in the rexx/ directory ). Neither will the toolbar images be found. If you're using a multiuser-system that Tooltype could be set to a directory in your HOME: assign. Please make sure that whole AmiComSys distribution is available there. I recommend you to check the Time Zone settings (under the Program page-Various-tab). Defaults to 2957, which is the official AMarqueed Port. MULTIPLE = Yes/No: If yes, several copies of AmiComSys may be started. Bear in mind that they must connect to different servers for this to work. It's possible to fake this if you connect to localhost and set the environmental variable AMARQUEED_FAKECLIENT to different hostnames. e.g. setenv AMARQUEED_FAKECLIENT /number.com/AmiComSys @{b}You should never set this to Yes, unless you like to run AmiComSys connected to a local server on your Amiga, or connect to several servers.@{ub} Default is No. REALNAME = Yes/No: If yes, AmiComSys will read the environmental variable REALNAME and use its value as RealName. Miami sets this variable automatically. Default is Yes. USERNAME = Yes/No: If yes, AmiComSys will read the environmental variables LOGNAME, USER or USERNAME and use its value as Login. Miami sets USERNAME automatically. Default is Yes. LOGIN = : The loginname you want to use in AmiComSys. NAME = : The realname you want to use. COMMENT = : The comment you want to be showed next to your name. EMAIL = : Your email address. It will not be showed for others, if you don't want to, and it is your unique id on the server. HOMEPAGE = : FTPSITE = : RECONNECT = Yes/No: Specify if you want AmiComSys to try to reconnect when no connection could be established or the connection is lost, or just quit. Useful if you start AmiComSys from an Online-script. Defaults to Yes. If you put AmiComSys in the WBStartup drawer RECONNECT should be Yes, and if you run AmiComSys from an Online-script RECONNECT should be set to No. If yes, AmiComSys will try to reconnect one time every minute if connection is lost. If you run Genesis or Miami your Online status will be checked before trying to connect. The problem is if you set this to NO, and the server reboots AmiComSys will quit. So probably it's better to set it to YES, and shut it down via Arexx when you go offline. PROGDIR = Set it to the path to your AmiComSys directory if you start AmiComSys from another directory than it's own, e.g. WBStartup drawer. This is needed so AmiComSys can find the rexx and images directories and the config files. There's a timeout for every client, to protect from bombings. When you have sent a message to a client you must wait 8 seconds before you can send a message to the same client again. A confirmation requester will pop up before it is sent, asking if you are sure. The @{"send confirmation" link "programfunction"} may be turned off. (only for registered users.) @{fg shine}The more recipients >> button@{fg text} At the top of this area there is a cycle gadget. Use this item to chat with multiple clients! If a photo of the remote user is available a button will appear at the top. Press it to download the photo. Save it the Pictures directory of the AmiComSys home directory or where you have set in the Misc-settings-Picture directory. One window can be connected to an @{b}unlimited number of clients@{ub}. You will act as a server for the clients you have connected. All you say will be sent to all the others, which you are connected to in that window. What all the clients which you have connected say will be sent to all the others which you have connected. So if you close the window the others which you have connected will also lose the "connection" to each other. With this feature it is possible to talk to all your buddies at the same time. But if the ones you have connected wants to keep talking to eachother when you must break your connection, they must connect to each other. Do this with the "Invite selected client" menu item. Learn it by testing ... The username display is configurable in the @{"Chat-settings." link "windowsettings"} The chat-textinput-field have some @{"keybindings" link "chatwkeybindnings"). @endnode @node "iconifywin" "Iconify Single windows" @{TI "Iconify Single windows"} Every window has a menu item named Iconify Window in it's project menu. The shortcut is 'Right Amiga i'. By picking this menu item you may iconify the window which is currently activated. By choosing Iconify application in the menu or the MUI-frame-menu item 'Iconifiy' you can iconify the whole application. The MUI-iconify-button iconize only the active window. The main window or the whole application may also be iconified with their respective hotkey. If you iconify the main window or the whole application it may be deiconified by: * pressing the hotkey. (default Left Shift -Left Alt- A for the Main Window) * pressing the application hotkey. * double clicking the icon on the workbench. (If show icon is on) * choosing the menu item in the Workbench tools menu. (if show menu is on) NOTE: Don't set the HotKey setting in the MUI-prefs. To set the the HotKey for the AmiComSys Main Window, open the ToolTypes and set CX_POPKEY. Default is CX_POPKEY=lalt lshift a Hotkey= Left shift, Left Alt and the a-key It could also be set in the Iconification settings found in the @{"Program settings" link programsett} of AmiComSys. Note that the Tooltype will override the setting in the AmiComSys settings! Text will be inserted into the textfield. A smiley may be entered by pressing the CTRL key while pressing the ':'-key. If you use the Add-button in the main window you may insert the selected client into your friendsbook. The email address will be hidden if the user has decided to make it not public. The client will be highlighted if you use "Highlight friends"-show mode. The email of the client will not be showed if the user have not decided to make it public. It's then hidden. If you try to insert a email in the email-textfield it will be compared against the one got from the server, and if the are the same it will be inserted into the list. If they are not a confirmation dialog will open. You should not write another email here than the one the client is using in AmiComSys, because that email will be used to recognize people. You may also "drag & drop" a client from the Client List into the Friendsbook list to insert it! Nobody can connect to you with AmiComSys. @{b}Invisible:@{ub} You will be invisible to all other connected. You will see the other connected but they will not see you. @{b}Free for chat:@{ub} You are willing to chat. 'Busy' and 'Invisible' do only work if you're a registered user. @endnode @node "infobar" "Info box" @{TI "The info box"} In the information box in the upper part of the main window, various information will be showed. No text in it is hardcoded into the program. There's a cache for it named .lastinfoupdate, that may be found in the AmiComSys home directory. It contains the text which is presented in the Information bar. It is downloaded from a web server. @endnode @node "messagereq" "Message requester" @{TI "Message requester"} When you receive a new message the Message requester will pop up. AmiComSys does not use the standard Amiga OS Easy Requester because it is a modal dialog. The features of the AmiComSys message requester is: * It is non-blocking. May optionally be a modal dialog. * It is centered, except when when you were using the keyboard. Then it will open in the top left corner and is then not activated. * The buttons have these shortcuts: * The right button: ESCape or the underlined character. * The left button: The underlined character. * The RETURN key will press the selected button. (select with the TAB-key). * With the TAB-key you may cycle through the alternatives. * It doesn't steal the current focus while you are using the keyboard. (customizable in the Window-settings. The requester is also used to tell you other things then messages from other users. @{fg shine}When a message from another user arrives @{fg text} At the upper part of the window there's an icon, the real name and nick name of the sender and the time stamp. There is also a 'History' button. Press it to open the Message History with the senders messages visible. In the middle the message is shown. It is possible to copy text to clipboard by selecting the text with the mouse. Below there is a text box, a 'Reply' button and an 'Ok' button: @{b}Text field@{ub} Enter a reply and press the Reply button or just Enter. @{b}Reply@{ub} When you have entered something in the text field and press the Reply button the text will be sent. If you haven't entered anything a reply window will appear. It works exactly as the @{"New Message window" link sendbut}. The requester will not normally close when you press the Reply-button or Enter in the message-field, but it can be configured to do so. @{b}Ok@{ub} Closes the message requester. If you have entered something in the text field a requester will pop up asking you what to do. A message field and a send button. You can use these to reply, without opening the main window. The requester will not close when you press the Send-button or Enter in the message-field. From AmiComSys version 1.25 MUI-windows are used for the message requester. You may choose to use the older GadTools one in the Windows-settings - "Use MUI requester". The MUI-requester is not snapshotable by default, i.e. AmiComSys will calculate a suitable size every time. You may change this in the Windows settings - "Snapshotable requester". @{b}NOTE!@{ub} You don't have to close a requester before you can receive or send another message. You may configure the requester at @{"Windows settings" link "windowsettings"} @endnode @node "ignorelist" "Ignore List" @{TI "Ignore List"} The Ignore list you find by picking the View/ignore users menu item. With it you can automatically ignore certain people that harass you. There are one large list in the window. It shows the current entries in the Ignore List. By selecting an entry the right list at the bottom will show what is ignored and the left will show what you could ignore. There are a couple of buttons: @{b}Add selected client@{ub} - Adds the client which is selected i the client list to the ignore list. Drag and drop from the client list is also implemented. @{b}Remove@{ub} - Removes the selected entry in the Ignore List. @{b}Update@{ub} - Uploads the current settings to the server. In AmiComSys there are the following categories: @{b}HotLine@{ub} - Ignores any entry in the HotLine from the added client. You won't notice if it changes the Topic either. @{b}ClientList@{ub} - The client's existance is not showed in the Client List. @{b}Msg, PChat & SendFile@{ub} - The client may not send you any messages and cannot connect to you via PChat and SendFile. The added client can't even get your System-info and Version-info! . Unregistered users could use the 'Bann-list (ignore these)' found in the Network settings instead. But with this the message is actually sent to your machine but filtered out. With the feature above it's stopped at the server, so nothing is sent to you! Use the --> Add and <-- Remove buttons to set the active ignore categories for the selected client. Plugins may also utilize this Ignore list. The plugins name will be shown as Application in the list, and the ignore categories is chosen by the plugin application. @endnode @node messhistory "Message History" @{TI "The Message history"} By picking the View/Message history menu item the Message history window will appear. All messages that you send and receive are added to this history. Optionally also the messages sent and received in the PChat may be added to the history. The three first groups in the left list are special: @{b}Last ten@{ub} - the last ten messages sent and received @{b}While away@{ub} - the messages you received while you were away (with status Away) @{b}System@{ub} - messages from the server or sent from the Message center at the home page If you are a registered user the history may be saved automatically when you quit AmiComSys or when you disconnect from the server. To the right the messages are shown. You may double click a message to show the message in a new window. Sometimes the message is to long to show then you must double click it to see it. Below the lists there are two text fields. In those you may change the nick name and real name of the selected user. Not only does it take up unnecessary bandwidth, it also creates anger in the receiving person. §3) In your comment you may write whatever you find informative or humorous, except for things that break against the other rules. You must turn this future off in the network settings if you want to show it. Remember there are NO "back-doors" in AmiComSys, that any unnamed piracy group could use to steal your files. The only thing they can use AmiComSys for is to find your IP-address and try to connect to some of your ports. If you are running one of their programs, that program could be listening on a port that they could connect to on your host and steal your files. Another security risk is if you are running a FTP-server at port 21, with an unsafe password, or a Samba-server at port 139. I recommend you to use Miami's IP-filter or better Miami Deluxe's fire wall to block access to certain ports, and use the 'netstat' command to found out which connections are established. These rules should make sure that nobody will feel insulted while they are online and have AmiComSys running. Insulting behaviour create a bad atmosphere that could make people leave AmiComSys and the Amiga community. That is NOT a thing we want to happen! Users that do not follow these rules may be kicked out of AmiComSys or be disallowed connection to the server. For your information, the HotLine can be seen by anybody and is logged by the server. If you want to say something private you are encouraged to use PChat or Messaging instead of HotLine. If you feel that someone is insulting you or sending you unwanted messages I advise you to insert that person's login name and/or RealName into your Ignore-list, which you found in the NetWork-security-settings. That person should then be unable to send you any private messages or connect to you through PChat or SendFile. You may also insert him/her into the Ignore-List which you found in the Settings menu. If it has detected a keypress within one second before the requester is to open, it will open in the upper left instead of centered. If you haven't pressed a key for one second AmiComSys thinks it's safe to pop up an active window, but for some people that time is to short. You can increase it in the Windows-settings - Message Requester tab - Activate Delay. BUGFIX: From version 2.2 events and sounds were not hit when a buddy went online and the "Show in list" was set to "All". BUGFIX: If you changed the string class setting from Textinput to any other while having a pchat or hotline window open it crashed. BUGFIX: The current cps in Send File wasn't accurate. Enter the ports in the settings and it should work as if you were not behind a firewall. If there are several hosts running AmiComSys behind a single "firewall/Internet sharing" those would use different ports. NEW: AmiComSys is now able to connect via PChat and Sendfile to hosts on the same LAN. V.2.2+ is required on both ends. NEW: Removed the group border from the Message History settings page. BUGFIX: AmiComSys could crash after the Friends book had been modified. BUGFIX: If you are behind a "firewall/Internet sharing" and someone which is also behind a firewall was connecting to you via PChat a message about refused connection appeared. BUGFIX: There was a double set of menus in the Client Info, PChat Image Download and Sendfile windows. "Popup window when message arrives") the scrollbar was not at the very bottom to display the newest message. BUGFIX: If you picked the Close menuitem from the SendFile and the Chat Image Download windows to abort the transmission AmiComSys locked up. BUGFIX: If you tried to break the AmiComSys process while it was showing a modal message dialog it could lock up. BUGFIX: When the message requesters are set to close after replying a message, it was possible to press enter in the text field again initiating a new send before it had been closed, causing it to close twice and deallocating memory twice. BUGFIX: When using the default public screen setting for Message requesters all windows now open on the current default screen after they have been deiconified too. BUGFIX: When having the Message History window opened while switching between several groups and sending and receiving messages the display hook function of the history list sometimes get an invalid pointer (0x1) from NList.mcc which caused an Enforcer-hit and lockup. I have no idea why this happen but I implemented a check on this. BUGFIX: The reply button (Email/ICQ) in messages sent from the message center was not shown. BUGFIX: If not "Last ten" was selected in the Message History and the items were wordwraped then there were trouble to remove the last or the first item to keep it to ten items when a new message was sent or received. The routine tried to remove items to make it ten but failed, and there by creating a busy loop, i.e making ACS freeze. @{TI "2.1 (01.12.2001)"} BUGFIX: When all the checkboxes in the Client list settings/Show which information were checked the computer crashed. So if you had that setting in v. 1.34 and tried 2.0 the computer just crashed. BUGFIX: It didn't work to install plugins directly from the plugin installer, by setting the environmental variable ACS_INSTALLPLUGIN. @{TI "2.0 (25.11.2001)"} The .guide is now more complete. There's a History button which opens the Message History for the sender. If you press the client Info button the Client Info will appear. The history button opens the Message history with the user's section visible. NEW: With plugins you may exend the functionality of AmiComSys. The plugin could have it's main GUI inside the main window of AmiComSys. It could also add it's own menus or append menuitems to the AmiComSys ones. It could fully integrate with AmiComSys by using the Message requesters, Message History, Ignore List and Task List. You add and remove plugins in the plugins settings. NEW: The "Window" menu have changed name to "View". In the Toolbars sub menu you may show or hide the bars. All windows may be opened from the View-menu. All the "merge and divide" context menu items on the bars were removed. In the "switch to plugin" sub menu you may choose which plugin's interface that shall be visible in the main window. NEW: Rewrote the ARexx menu. It's name is now Tools menu. You may add or remove arexx scripts or other tools with the Tools settings. NEW: There are a pair of new images for the new settings pages (prefs_plugins and prefs_arexx). NEW: The Config window is rewritten. Memory for the window is not allocated before it is opened. If you press the Cancel button all the changes made in the window is forgotten. All the pages of the window are not layouted before the window is opened anymore, it's only layouted before shown. Values set with Tooltypes will now also be visible in the Config window. The Pagoo/ICQ page was removed. You may now enter your ICQ UIN, to show in Client info, under the System info in the Personal settings. NEW: AmiComSys now checks with you tcp/ip-stack if you are online before trying to connect to the server. Both Genesis and Miami(Dx) are supported. If you use another stack AmiComSys will go into the online state as soon as bsdsocket.library can be opened. With this change it should be possible to enable the Auto-Connect feature in Miami Deluxe without problems caused by AmiComSys. You don't need to be online to connect to 'localhost'. NEW: The Pchat feature was rewritten. Every window doesn't need a new process anymore and the feature should now be more stable. NEW: Those who are in your Friends book will see you host name and ip address even though you have activated the "Hide my ip" setting in the Network/security settings. The reason is to make it possible for your friends to connect to you with Internet games and other tools like AmTalk just like QAmitrack once did. NEW: Status bar is a new bar which contains the old status cycle. Another new bar is the "Plugin selection bar" which shows which plugin that is active in the main window. It contains a pop up window wo you may change which plugin is the active one. NEW: Some things have changed in the client list. You cannot anymore double click a client to open the Client Info, but you may send a new message that way. In the context menu you can do a number of actions on the selected client, like connecting with PChat, Sendfile or an external tool like AmTalk or just show the Client info. The first two vertical lines in the list have been removed. NEW: The Send File and PChat windows now also open on the front most screen if this is specified for the message requesters in the Windows settings. NEW: Added Popup-option to the Windows->Chat->PChat settings. Check this to let AmiComSys automatically popup the iconified PChat window when a new message arrive. NEW: Added support for a HTTP-proxy. So if you have to or want to use a proxy server to to download pages or files from web servers check the Network/Proxy-server settings. If you see HTML tags in the Information bar or cannot download pictures in the PChat you probably need to use a proxy. NEW: The Ignore list, opened by the View->Ignore users menu item is rewritten. It now is fully dynamic which makes it possible for plugins to use it to ignore other categories than AmiComSys. NEW: Added support for plugins in the Message History also. NEW: A new window named Task List shows the current tasks. May also be used by plugins. NEW: Removed support for Pagoo because it didn't work any more and it was not possible and worth it to fix it. If you are online it will the memory will be allocated again to be able to connect to the server. SECURITYFIX: Fixed the MUI Escape-code exploit, which did let users to run any program on your computer if you had APIPE: or AWNPIPE: mounted by sending a special escape code sequence. If you had PIPE: mounted users could manage to get your computer to crash. @{TI "1.34 (26.05.2001)"} The Installer script was updated: You could get "object in use" errors when you tried to update a former version which recently was running. Now the installer script makes a couple of "avail flush":es to flush the lock on the toolbar images. To make it possible for computers on Internet to connect with PChat and SendFile to your computer which has an internal network ip address, i.e. is behind a firewall or Internet router you have to enable the "I'm behind a firewall" checkbox in the AmiComSys network settings. It still isn't possible to connect with PChat and SendFile between two machines both having only an internal ip-address, i.e. when the Internet router isn't involved.
