With it and a digitizer and microphone, you can transmit your voice over the Internet or a LAN to another Amiga or Amigas that are running AmiPhone. AmiPhone uses ADPCM audio compression to allow transmission through low-bandwidth connections. Thus, a conversation is possible even over 14.4kbit/second modems. Of course, more bandwidth is desirable. AmiPhone requires Workbench 2.04 or higher, AmiTCP 3.0b or higher, and a Toccata board or standard parallel port style digitizer with a microphone. Also, a fast CPU is highly recommended. NOTE: AmiPhone is not compatible with I-Phone or any other Internet-phone type program at this time. New in version 1.6: - Added a TCP batch transmission mode. In this mode, AmiPhone sends the audio stream over the TCP connecton, and does not play the sound until you have finished speaking.
