EXISTING clickBOOM Customers

Order any of our games (as many as you want). Have your game(s) shipped to you immediately. But you don't have to pay absolutely nothing until March 2002 !!!

NEW clickBOOM Customers

If you never ordered from clickBOOM now is the time: Order any of our games (as many as you want). Have your game(s) shipped to you immediately. Pay only half now and the balance in March 2002 !

And an update on the legal matters regarding Nightlong. We had the pre-trial at which Duplium offered to settle. However, their settlement offer did not take into consideration our Amiga players with faulty Nightlong CDs. Therefore, we had no choice but to turn the offer down. The next step is the trial. The court has yet to set a date for it, most likely it will be some time next year. We'll keep you posted.

Neue Eternity1 Angebote und Pakete 29.11.2001
19:04
Eternuty informiert:

15:12
DRemind ist in der Version 1.58 erschienen:

Changes:

  • Delete and disable a remind that has just popped up didn't work, now it should.
  • Now you can make the list in DRemindPrefs to autosort whenever you change anything in it.
  • Removed some bugs :-)

MultiRen ist in der Version 1.46 erschienen

Changes:

  • Now you can save patterns in the Renplacer so that you don't have to re-type them every time if you often use a few different patterns!
  • The Filecomment tool is now more powerful when using the custom string. You can write f.ex: '%n[2;5]' to use 5 chars from offset 2 in the New name instead of just the whole New name as before with just '%n'!
  • Added a new status column for the file comment!
  • The file pattern in the file requester was remembered internally but not reused in the requester when opening the requester again. This have been fixed.
  • The PicInfo plugin has been updated!
  • Plus some bugs where fixed.

Evenmore Update 28.11.2001
17:50
Just uploaded an email2text plugin to the website, www.evemore.co.uk. It's tested on Outlook Express (opens .eml files), not yet tested on an Amiga emailer, but it will take a mime encoded email, and display the text part, or if the html part is available, it will convert that to text. Also fixed a bug in the screen palette (wouldn't save the palette properly)

Cloanto News 28.11.2001
17:50
Cloanto released today version 5.0 of Amiga Forever, the official Amiga emulation and connectivity package for PCs. New features include just-in-time (JIT) compiler technology to dramatically increase execution speed, new ROM and operating system files to emulate not only the Amiga computers but also Commodore's CDTV and CD³² game consoles, and Software Manager, a content delivery and management system for one-click news, updates and downloads. An experimental version of the revolutionary Disk2FDI software, which makes it possible to read Amiga floppy disks on the PC, is provided for the technically inclined. Other improvements include support for new Windows XP and DirectX features and new Picasso96 technology to better map Amiga graphics calls to low-level DirectX functionality and native x86 code, in order to achieve maximum performance without sacrificing compatibility. Cloanto publicly benchmarked the new version of the emulation software to be 30 times faster than the previous version (which already matched the CPU performance of the fastest Amiga 68060 silicon). Amiga Forever can be installed or run from CD-ROM (no installation or reboot required), and is also available in a downloadable Online Edition. In either case, Amiga application can run side by side with the host operating system and its applications, while taking advantage of features such as virtual memory, advanced power management, digital rights management, NTFS filing system, wireless networking, and thousands of past, present and future drivers for peripherals, specifications and gadgets which the Amiga would otherwise not be able to support. For additional information please refer to the Amiga Forever home page at amigaforever.info.

Hyperion Gives More Info about Amiga OS4 27.11.2001
14:46
"First of all, the idea is to get the AmigaOS from 68k to the PPC. Of course, there's a lot of code in the system, and lot's of code that's beyond our reach (hardware drivers in ROMs, for example). So one of the core components is of course the 68k emulator. The JIT version is already very fast, if you have a 040/25 and a fast 603e, you'll actually be able to run some programs faster than on the physical 040/25...

The second core component will be Exec SG. This is a reimplementation of the original Exec, written in C and placed onto a hardware abstraction layer so that it ports easily from one hardware to the other (remember, we intent to support a lot of different hardware, some of these will not have the Amiga chipset anymore). New features (compared to the old Exec) will be virtual memory. Don't worry, you'll not have to select "Shutdown" from the "Start" menu, you can just switch off ;) We also want to introduce some weak form of memory protection, like protecting code from being overwritten.. Later version will also include resource tracking.

The third mayor (new) building block is the new-style library interface. The cool thing about this is that it enables old 68k libraries to act as new OS4 libraries. To OS4 applications, 68k libraries will look like PPC native libraries. OTOH, new PPC only libraries will look like old 68k libraries to emulated 68k programs. This is achieved by the new library loader: Whenever a library is loaded, the "missing" part of the interface will be generated on-the-fly (by creating so called "stub" functions). So, even though a library is not yet ported to PPC, it can be used as if it were a PPC library, and as soon as it's ported, the program using it will use PPC code, even without recompiling the program (sorry if that comes out a bit complicated....)

For the initial release, we want to have at least the new Exec SG (otherwise, the whole system wouldn't work, anyway), a PPC native DOS, the TCP stack, new file system, and some devices. If there's still time, we'll port as much as possible to native PPC.

I think we have around 20 developers working on OS4.

A solution we're thinking about is loading a kernel image from the hard disk's boot block. The Amiga's disk structure allows arbitraty sized boot blocks, so theoretically, a whole kernel could fit there. We will in any case offer the possibility to use something like SetPatch (including the dreaded reboot). This means that you do not have to reformat your harddrive or even repartition or something like that. As another possibility, we will try to offer the bootblock loading.

We discussed the possibility to include a UAE in the system that will kick in when binaries are executed that require the chipset. That way, running old games could be made transparent

We will apply for BPlan Pegasos developer program, but we will not get special treatment.

We will make as much information as possible available as soon as possible. This includes documents as well as pre-release version of OS 4 for developers. Of course we want as much stuff on OS 4 as possible, so this is going to be a high priority."

Freespace Demo Update 26.11.2001
16:10
The Demo Update fixes the Sensitivity problems. I just uploaded an update for the demo version on our site, which makes it possible to change the Mouse/Joystick Sensitivity also with the demo. Not through the Freespace Options Menu like for the full version, though, but you can set it up in the config file at least. In the full version it will be set-up-able in the Freespace Options Menu. I set default values to 9, while for the older demo version sensitivity was set to a lower value.

AmiComSys 2.0 ist erschienen 25.11.2001
21:00
AmiComSys 2.0 ist heute erschienen:

The .guide is now more complete. Please read it even if you have used AmiComSys before. NEW: Removed the message bar. You now send a message by double clicking the client in the list or by pressing the Msg or MuMsg buttons and drag and drop the recipients to the "Recipients list". The multi-selection in the client list is removed because it is not of use anymore.

NEW: The message requesters are redesigned. An image shows which type of message it is. There's a History button which opens the Message History for the sender. Reply by typing in the text in the textbox and press "Reply", or just press Reply to open up the New Message Window to see the reply text better.

NEW: In the New Message window you enter a message to send. In the upper part of the window three buttons are located, Client Info, History and More recipients. If you press the client Info button the Client Info will appear. The history button opens the Message history with the user's section visible. With the More recipients button you hide or show the list where you may add recipients. The message type cycle was also moved to this window.

NEW: With plugins you may exend the functionality of AmiComSys. The plugin could have it's main GUI inside the main window of AmiComSys. It could also add it's own menus or append menuitems to the AmiComSys ones. It could fully integrate with AmiComSys by using the Message requesters, Message History, Ignore List and Task List. You add and remove plugins in the plugins settings.

NEW: The "Window" menu have changed name to "View". In the Toolbars sub menu you may show or hide the bars. All windows may be opened from the View-menu. All the "merge and divide" context menu items on the bars were removed. In the "switch to plugin" sub menu you may choose which plugin's interface that shall be visible in the main window.

NEW: Rewrote the ARexx menu. It's name is now Tools menu. You may add or remove arexx scripts or other tools with the Tools settings.

NEW: There are a pair of new images for the new settings pages (prefs_plugins and prefs_arexx).

NEW: The Config window is rewritten. Memory for the window is not allocated before it is opened. If you press the Cancel button all the changes made in the window is forgotten. All the pages of the window are not layouted before the window is opened anymore, it's only layouted before shown. Values set with Tooltypes will now also be visible in the Config window. The Pagoo/ICQ page was removed. You may now enter your ICQ UIN, to show in Client info, under the System info in the Personal settings.

NEW: AmiComSys now checks with you tcp/ip-stack if you are online before trying to connect to the server. Both Genesis and Miami(Dx) are supported. If you use another stack AmiComSys will go into the online state as soon as bsdsocket.library can be opened. With this change it should be possible to enable the Auto-Connect feature in Miami Deluxe without problems caused by AmiComSys. You don't need to be online to connect to 'localhost'.

NEW: The Pchat feature was rewritten. Every window doesn't need a new process anymore and the feature should now be more stable.

NEW: Those who are in your Friends book will see you host name and ip address even though you have activated the "Hide my ip" setting in the Network/security settings. The reason is to make it possible for your friends to connect to you with Internet games and other tools like AmTalk just like QAmitrack once did.

NEW: Status bar is a new bar which contains the old status cycle. Another new bar is the "Plugin selection bar" which shows which plugin that is active in the main window. It contains a pop up window wo you may change which plugin is the active one.

NEW: Some things have changed in the client list. You cannot anymore double click a client to open the Client Info, but you may send a new message that way. In the context menu you can do a number of actions on the selected client, like connecting with PChat, Sendfile or an external tool like AmTalk or just show the Client info. The first two vertical lines in the list have been removed.

NEW: The Send File and PChat windows now also open on the front most screen if this is specified for the message requesters in the Windows settings.

NEW: Added Popup-option to the Windows->Chat->PChat settings. Check this to let AmiComSys automatically popup the iconified PChat window when a new message arrive.

NEW: Added support for a HTTP-proxy. So if you have to or want to use a proxy server to to download pages or files from web servers check the Network/Proxy-server settings. If you see HTML tags in the Information bar or cannot download pictures in the PChat you probably need to use a proxy.

NEW: The Ignore list, opened by the View->Ignore users menu item is rewritten. It now is fully dynamic which makes it possible for plugins to use it to ignore other categories than AmiComSys.

NEW: Added support for plugins in the Message History also.

NEW: A new window named Task List shows the current tasks. May also be used by plugins.

NEW: Removed support for Pagoo because it didn't work any more and it was not possible and worth it to fix it.

NEW: Moved the "restart" menu item to the Project menu and added a new menu item named "Kill GUI". Use it free some memory allocated to be able to show the GUI. The GUI will be iconified. If you are online it will the memory will be allocated again to be able to connect to the server.

SECURITYFIX: Fixed the MUI Escape-code exploit, which did let users to run any program on your computer if you had APIPE: or AWNPIPE: mounted by sending a special escape code sequence. If you had PIPE: mounted users could manage to get your computer to crash.

Freespace Demo erhältlich. 25.11.2001
21:00
As of today, the Freespace demo version is downloadable. We offer the demo version both as full archive and as update archives for people who already have our demo CD. The update archives are downloadable seperately as PPC and as 68k version. The update fixes two minor bugs (CD 32 Pad now works, and there had been some troubles when PSX Port support was selected and no PSX Port connected to the Amiga). In the full archive the updated executables are already integrated.

The Freespace demo Version provides you with a possibility to test our upcoming title. You will be enabled to play four full levels of the game, featuring both 3D hardware and software rendering, and featuring both PPC and 68k versions. Like the full game the FreeSpace demo version requires either a PPC (with or without 3D Hardware) or a 68060 with 3D hardware (Permedia 2/Voodoo 3 or better).

"Descent FreeSpace: The Great War" and other titles from Hyperion Entertainment will also support the Warp3D drivers for ATI Radeon and Permedia 3 (and other drivers in the future) on availability of these drivers.

Amiga Arena - Interview Aktion! 25.11.2001
17:12

Elbox SharkPPC should work in Prometheus unless Elbox prevents it. 24.11.2001
15:55
Matay's PR & marketing guy Grzegorz Juraszek posted a follow up to the SharkPPC topic on ANN.lu:

"I see no reason why Shark wouldn't work with Prometheus, provided Elbox doesn't put any protection against it in the flashROM of the card. As for hinting: it is pretty obvious that if not the same, both cards are at least based on the same reference board (by IBM). That's why making drivers shouldn't be a big problem even if Elbox won't want to publish documentation (as usually)."

Mr. Adam Kowalczyk follows up with: "If you've been at the Yahoo Prometheus Group recently, Krashan has indicated that Matay has been working on getting bus mastering working on the Prometheus. The board will have to have the PLDs reprogrammed to accomplish this. Looking at the hardware, it's provided with the ability to have them reprogrammed (CN6 and CN7)."
