----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Version History:

V1.0 - First release.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installation:

Sorry, there's no installation script, as I don't have any docs on
Installer.

Be sure to back up your SYS:Prefs drawer in case you want to uninstall.

1. Move the main directory to anywhere on your hard-disk. (A good place
   is in SYS:Prefs/Presets)

2. Run WBPattern in your Workbench Prefs drawer.

3. Select Type:Picture and select a backdrop for your Workbench from the
   gothbench4 drawer.

4. Select Placement:Windows, Type:Picture, and select a backdrop for
disk/drawer windows from the gothbench4 drawer. Click Save.

5. Run Prefs/Sound, and make sure Make Sound and Sound Type: Sampled
    Sound are selected.

6. Click on Select Sample and pick a sound from gothbench4/Sounds to play.

7. If you want to make MUI run as slowly as possible, you can use the
backgrounds for MUI windows, sliders, and the like, by setting the MUI
   preferences accordingly.

8. Reboot.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Uninstallation:

To uninstall, just copy any non-display oriented preferences files to
your backup copy of SYS:Prefs and delete the gothbench4 directory.
Then copy your backup to SYS:Prefs and delete the backup.

If you didn't make a backup of your old settings, well, enjoy making
them all over again.

Miscellaneous answers to various questions:

* Will there be a Gothbench V?
I have no plans for another addition to the gothbench series at this time,
unless the demand is great enough and I have the motivation.

* What happened to Gothbench I?
   Visit http://darkenterprises.ddns.com/gothbench/gothbenchI/index.html

* The name "Gothbench" comes from "Workbench", the name of the Amiga's
desktop. I couldn't think of a better name for other platforms, and it
  avoids confusion.

* Gothbench II, gothbench3, and gothbench4 are currently available for
Windows, Macintosh, and Amiga. Patterns for X-Windows machines are
available by request. (Ask for xgoth2.tar.gz, xgoth3.tar.gz, and/or
  xgoth4.tar.gz)

* Amiga Gothbench II, 3, and 4 have been converted and tested on UAE running
AmigaOS V3.1 on my PC. (Running images of the same ROM and diskset used to
  develop GothbenchI, incidentally.)

No thanks whatsoever to:

#Win98 on Undernet IRC, for being incredibly rude and assuming I was an idiot.

My ex-psychiatrist, for being incapable of dealing with problems beyond
signing a prescription.

George Jones, for performing his music.

Whitehats and frat boys, just because they exist.

The health care industry (racket) at large, with some specific exceptions.

----

Special thanks to:

My friends and family for putting up with me and supporting me through all
those dark months.

Dr. Robert E Sams, M.D. for caring beyond the call of duty, and generally
being an all-around good guy.

American McGee, for Alice, which provided hours of entertainment,
introspection, and lots of graphic inspiration.

You, the dark.enterprises visitor, for making it all worthwhile.
