Short: My Amiga OS4 GUI design ideas -.24Bit (Major updates) Author: G.Nath@wlv.ac.uk (Girish Nath) Uploader: G.Nath@wlv.ac.uk (Girish Nath) Type: pix/illu **** This is in no way linked to work that is being done by AmigaTech GmBH/Phase5/PiOS or whoever, these are just some of my designs and ideas. If there is ever to be a PowerAmiga machine it will need a snazzy os/gui to even stand a chance amongst Macs and PCs. These are some of the things I would like to see on a new Amiga OS. - Full 24Bit WB display in 800x600 standard. - Look and feel of previous WB style, very responsive. - Competely object orientated/fully modular. - This machine is based on the future PPC620 with 24Meg RAM. That should be okay for an "off-the-shelf system" ;) - Standard 16Bit sound from Roland or Yamaha. - Gadget and Titlebar replacement with either bitmaps or animation. Titlebar colours have a velocity so they can move when selected. - Translucent windows and icons when resize and dragging. - Smooth scrolling windows; a la MUI listviews - Anti-Aliased fonts where nessecary, these would look cool in really high resolutions ie >1024 - Windows and icons may produce shadows (direction/softness adjustable) - Full Internet/Network support. OS supplied with typical InterNet apps AND Profesional quality WWW AUTHORING SOFTWARE. -- Updates from previous version -- New titlebars, system gadgets, more colourful dock icons, new icon scheme, soft-shadows on icons and windows, removal of coloured square from scrollbars, new texture preview, general clean-up of graphics and lots of small changes. Thanks for everyone who gave me feedback on the previous version. If you want this type of GUI or some parts of it atleast to appear on PowerAmiga, then mail VisCorp/AT/Phase5 and make some noise about it! ;) Any thoughts/comments ? E~Mail me even to let me know that you have seen this archive. This is the 24 Bit IFF version of the graphic. It is completely composed in TrueBrilliance 2.0 in HAM8 mode on an AutoScroll screen (i don't have a gfx board, and my C=1942 doesn't support 800x600 :( You may freely distribute this image (and mail it to Viscorp ;) so long as you do not modify it in any way, shape or form, and as long as this README file accompanies the archive. Incidentally I would like to do training on web page development I am open to offers :) Image is copyright © of Girish V Nath/FireStorm Visual 1996 Email: cm6700@ccub.wlv.ac.uk SMail: 11 Brixham Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B16 OJY, UK -- "Then the willows must scuttle carefully" - Kosh, Babylon5
