Meaning that you don't have to learn the hex-numbers. For a while now I've been looking for a program to do just that, but I've found none. So I wrote this. The idea to this program came when a friend of mine could not win in K-240, and he asked me how to use a HEX-monitor, well since he's not very good at it, I began to write a special cheat-program for K-240. Then I thought that now I'd made some general routines, I might as well create a program to make it easy for everyone to cheat in huge games, so I wouldn't have to write more special routines for my mate. When you use this program you'll notice that the verious parts of the program has their own version numbers, this is due to the fact that this program is build of many pieces, and it will help me and others to keep track of what has been changed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Credits: - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This program is written in: AMOS Pro V2.0 Turbo + SLN extension. Easylife. LDOS Pro GFX: Personal paint 6.4 Text: GoldED Pro '95 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - Instructions: - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- System needs: This should run on all amigas, but if you want to check games with huge save-files, you'll need quite an amount of memory, but normaly the odds will be that if you could run the game and save the file, then you can also run this program. -> You need KS 1,3+ -> You need pattern.library (Included in archive) To start: Start the program with double-click on the icon. Startscreen: First you will get to a start-screen, where you can choose to load a save-game from disk or you can quit the program. The third option is to run the Hex-Editor. Afterload: After loading the save-game you'll be taken to the editmodeselect The hex-editor is still avalible to use if you don't want to use anything else. Then the expert-editor (see later) or the last choice is to run the special handler for the save-game, this is only posible if the file has been checked as a known filetype. Build-in-games: If you've loaded a save-game that is supported by the built-in types, then you should use it, course it'll save you lot of time. Simply choose the game from the menu 'Defined games'. The amount of options may be very different from game to game. Just look at the options and change whatever you like. This program should check for valid values when you enter them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - The expert-editor - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The Expert-edit search-zone options: Search-types: In the upper section of the mainscreen you'll find the difrent search-types to the left. Find the type based on the game, try to rember the maximum you can have in the game. Use types as follow: -> Byte search, values between 0 -> 255 -> Word search, values between -32768 -> 65535 -> Long word, values higer than 65535 or smaler than -32768 Always use the higest search type (eg. if you know it's posible to have more than 65535 credits, use the Longword search, also if you've only got 35 credits right now). ->Inverse search This can be used to find values in some games that can't be found on normal search, this way of storing data has been used often, since it's an easy way to hide the values. (Use it if a normal search has not found anything) Search-value: In the field to the right of the 'search' button you'll have to enter the value you're looking for. Try not to search on '0' since this value is often used as 'fill-byte'. Values may be entered as Hex, binary or decimal base. Search-button: When you've checked the proper search-type, and entered the right search value the click this button and wait a bit while the pro- gram is looking for the right value. Status-window: Below the search button there is a textfield, where you can see the status of the current search. When no search has been done the text 'No search done' will be shown. Alternative the text will indicate the number of matches found in the file. The main-screen Edit-zone options: On top there are 3 windows, showing in order: Position in file, current value and an edit-zone for you to enter new values in. You can enter values in HEX, BIN or DEC base, if you want to use hex then procede the number with '$', or with '%' if you are using bin. Below the 3 windows there are a window with a number, this is an internal number representing the current number in the foundlist. The slider to the right lets you change the position in the list. Exiting from the main-screen: The are 3 ways of exiting, all are placed at the bottom of the screen. Quit: Simple way of leaving the editor, but no save is done, that means all changes you've done will be lost. Use if you've made some- thing wrong. Save and Quit: Erases the old file and writes the new on the disk. The leaves the editor. .bak Save and Quit: Renames the old file to .bak, then saves the new on the disk, finaly exits the editor. The main-screen menus: Press right mouse button to see the menus Utilities: ->Enter adress This is not working at the moment. Compare ->Match after search Asks you to select a file, that will be compared with the adresses previous found with search, all locations that are identical will be placed in the editzone. ->NoMatch after search Same as 'match after search' execept it'll look for adres- ses that differs. Tools: ->HEX monitor Can't make this call work, don't know why Use the choice from the selectmenu Hints: When the search is done you'll get the number of locations found, if there is more than one, then you should be aware what you're doing, course only one might be the right one. If there's only one, then just go ahead and change it. If you've got more than one then try to play the game and change the value, then save again, now try to load the new save-game into QueenCheater, and search for the new value, if you're lucky then some of the adresses will be the same. And if you are very lucky then there'll only be one this time. However, some games move the data around in the file, in that case this won't work, and you'll just have to save the game with several diffrent values until there's only one found. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - The Hex-editor - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: THIS IS NOT COMPLETED YET, AND IT IS NOT OPTIMISED FOR SPEED. THERE MIGHT BE SOME BUGS TOO. I haven't tested this on a slower computer, and i don't know how slow it is on a 68000 but it runs (not very fast) on my 68030/50, but it'll be improved later on. I think that people who uses this also knows what is is and how it works so just a short brief on the differences from other normal editors. Edit modes: Hex : The normal one, just punch in the numbers. Dec : Not seen so often, enter the value as a 3-digit number. ASCII: Type a char. Word/Longword modes has not been done yet, sorry. 2 files: The editor has room for 2 files in seperate buffers, and those can be compared with the functions. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - The build-in types - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- How: This program supports some built-in types for special games, this simply means that QueenCheater knows the positions of the data, and can change it without searching for values, always use this, if you got the chance. What games: Hire is a list of games, that QueenCheater knows about, and what can be changed in 'em. The number in [brankets] shows since what version it has been included. KnownGame-list: -> K240, (Credits and budget posts.) [1.10] -> Settlers, (CastleStore) [1.50] -> Ultimate Soccer Maneger, (Players and money) [2.10] -This list will be longer in versions to come (I hope). Hire's a list of cheats i know about, so don't write to me telling me how to find the credits etc. in these games. These will be included as soon as possible. -> K240, (Minerals, both deposit and store on the asteroids) -> SimCity Classic (Money) -> Civilization (Credits) -> Settlers (the map, and how it's set up) If you know about the fileformat of some games not written on this list, or if you know about more interesting data in those listed, then let me know. The future: Well, I've got some ideas, hire's some exampels. -> A simple editor for users. -> Print adresses found. -> A memory searcher. -> More built-in types. -> Your Idea. Problem games. Some games code their information, and some packs the files. Those can't QueenCheater handle direct, so if those games are not build in, then ther's no chance, sorry. Other games need to be searched with special options, those have a hint listed. Hire's a list of games, that QueenCheater can't handle normaly (NOTE: This list is not complete) -> SimCity 2000 Imposible at the moment. -> Colonization Use 'Inverse mode' and 'Longword' then search on the gold. The past: Previous releases: ->1.10 (17-03-1996) First official version, missing many options. ->1.50 (24-03-1996) Added compere file, more build-in types ->1.60 (Never sent) Added 'Inverse search' ->2.10 (28-07-1996) Hexmonitor (not perfected) Build-in type 'Ultimate soccer' added
