 1. Introduction
 ===============

  1.1 Legal stuff
  ---------------

MM_SMFEDcode is an enhanced UU/FS/MIME En/Decoder for Mail Manager by Pino
Aliberti to en- or decode splitted or multiple FS or UU-coded files from/to
   msgs.

The programs and files in this distribution are freely distributable, but are
also Copyright (c) Robert Hofmann except the bin-drawer. They may be freely
distributed as long as no more than a nominal fee is charged to cover time
   and copying costs.

No commercial usage is permitted without written permission from the author.
Everything in this distribution must be kept together, in original unmodified
   form and unmodified archive.

MM_SMFEDcode is mailware :-). This means if you use it, please write me a
short mail. You know, it is frustrating to write programs and there are no
responses from the users if they like it or not... But of course money is
   also welcome. ;-)

Accepting these few points is the only condition for using MM_SMFEDcode...

  1.2 General stuff
  -----------------

I am not the best in writing doc, but quiet good in coding I think :-) This
docs are a bit short I have to appolognize, but I hope you'll understand it
anyway... Especially my English and the typo's ;-)

If there is anybody out there who is able to & wants translate the docs to
his own language, please do so and send them to me! I'll add them to the next
release. Also translators always will get the newest betas! ;-)

Unfortunatly I don't have the will & time to translate my docs even to German
   - my time is better used for coding :-)

 2. Features
 ===========

  MM_SMFEDcode...

     ... supports UU-, FS- & MIME-en/decoding
... is able to encode files & split them if necessary
... is able to decode even multiple and/or splitted files from msgs
... is able to work without GUI
... is able to post an introduction-msg before the encoded data/msg
... shows you which files were extracted from the msg
... has a VERY comfortable GUI for en- & decoding
... and many many more :-)

 3. Installation
 ===============

  1. Copy the MM-files to the corresponding MM:*/-directories.

  2. Copy UUin, UUout & FScode to a dir you want

  3. Adjust the cfg-file to your own needs

  4. Add these lines to your MM.cfg:

     #BROWSEMENU "FS/UU/MIME-Decode" "rx MM:Rexx/MM_SMFEDcode DECODE GUI AREA %a MSG %n" ""
     #BROWSEMENU "FS/UU/MIME-Encode" "rx MM:Rexx/MM_SMFEDcode ENCODE GUI AREA %a" ""

 4. Usage:
 =========

  4.1 Encoding
  ------------

   [RX] MM_SMFEDcode[.rexx] ENCODE/S/A,GUI/S,MODE/K/A,AREA/K,FILE/K,FLAGS/K,
                            FROM/K,FROMADDR/K,ORIGIN/K,SUBJ/K,TO/K,TOADDR/K,
                            INFOFILE/K,DELINFOFILE/S,NOLOG/S

ENCODE Indicates that you want to encode ;-)
     GUI Use the gui
MODE <FS|UU|MIME> Use FS, UU or MIME-encoding
AREA <name> The area to post the file in 1)
FILE The name of the file to encode 2)
     FLAGS Msgflags 2)
     FROM From-name 3)
     FROMADDR From-address 3)
     ORIGIN Msg-origin 3)
     SUBJ Msg-subject 2)
     TO To-name 3)
     TOADDR To-address 3)
INFOFILE If present, post this file as msg before the encoded data
DELINFOFILE Delete the INFOFILE after posting it
     NOLOG Do not log anything

     1) Not necessary if you use the gui, but might be given. If you don't use
the gui it MUST be given.
     2) If no gui, it MUST be given.
     3) MM_SMFEDcode tries to get the data from the area-setting, via nodelist
        or something like that.

  4.2 Decoding
  ------------

   [RX] MM_SMFEDcode[.rexx] DECODE/S/A,GUI/S,AREA/A/K,MSG/A/K/N

DECODE Indicates that you want to decode ;-)
GUI Use the gui, don't supress the requesters
     AREA <name> The area &
MSG <#> msg-number to decode the file from.

  4.3 GUI
  -------

The gui should be self-speaking, so try it out :-)

 5. Configuration
 ================

It is very simple, so I don't describe it very much...

  5.1 #UUDECODE <your uu-decode command>
  -------------------------------------

   #UUDECODE UUout %e %d USEBASENAME

%e = name of the encoded file
%d = name of the decoded file or dir

  5.2 #UUENCODE <your uu-encode command>
  -------------------------------------

   #UUENCODE UUin %d %e MODE=644

%e = name of the encoded file
%d = name of the decoded file or dir

  5.3 #FSDECODE <your fs-decode command>
  -------------------------------------

   #FSDECODE fscode %e %d

%e = name of the encoded file
%d = name of the decoded file or dir

  5.4 #FSENCODE <your fs-encode command>
  -------------------------------------

   #FSENCODE fscode %d %e E

%e = name of the encoded file
%d = name of the decoded file or dir

  5.5 #MIMEDECODE <your fs-decode command>
  ----------------------------------------

   #MIMEDECODE fscode %e %d

%e = name of the encoded file
%d = name of the decoded file or dir

NOTE: The version in the MM/bin-drawer is the 68020+-version!

  5.6 #MIMEENCODE <your fs-encode command>
  ----------------------------------------

   #MIMEENCODE fscode %d %e E

%e = name of the encoded file
%d = name of the decoded file or dir

NOTE: The version in the MM/bin-drawer is the 68020+-version!

  5.7 #MAXSIZE <max. size per encoded msg>
  ----------------------------------------

The max. size of encoded data per msg.

The min. limit is 10k. You may also set greater values, but some tossers may
cut msgs if they are too long...

5.8 #OUTDIR <the dir where to place the decoded files to>
  ---------------------------------------------------------

The directory where the file will be decoded to.

 6. Some notes...
 ================

I know the name is a bit strange, but there are already other programs doing
such things, so I had to choose a diffrent name :-)

I've tested the splitted-file-decoding with some different msgs and it was
working fine. But this is no easy part, so this may not cover all situations.

If you have any problems with decoding, please contact me.

In addtition to that I didn't fully test the GUI of this version, esp. the en-
coding-part, so there also might be problems. If so -> mail me!

I recommend using the en- & decoders from the bin-drawer of this release! It
was NOT tested with others, so I don't know if it will work!

 7. Acknowledgements
 ===================

I wanted (this was much work I think and delayed the release
of MM for some month ;-)) For our hard but fair fights in
MMBETA and at least for the nice note about me in the docs
