GVFix's Info: ------------- GVFix is Currently Still Beta (Just Like GV) and is Improved/Updated Almost Every Day. Current Version Date is: 04 May 1996 GVFix's Functions: ------------------ GVFix Checks for Certain Events and Reacts Accordingly. GVFix Fixes a CTCP Problem with : Characters. Because if You/Someone Sends for Example a /CTCP : Command then a Volume Requester Pops Up :( GVFix Changes all :'s to ÷'s which Looks a Bit Similar. GVFix can Check if a File Sent by Someone Already is in the Current Download Path and if it can be Overwritten and if it's Above a Selectable Kilobytes Size and Reject it. GVFix can Control the Amount of Incoming and Outgoing DCC's. GVFix can Show the /Away Actions to all Joined Channels. GVFix can Respond to Texts or Nicks or User@Hosts when Someone Types, Joins etc. GVFix Get's Your User@Host when You're Connected to a Server to Easily Detect if You're Using Certain Functions etc. or Someone Else. You're then Recognised as Master. GVFix can Change a Nick Already in Use to Another One. GVFix can Reconnect to a Server when the Connection is Lost or Has Failed. GVFix can Save Messages/Notices to You when You're Away and Show the Amount of Messages/Notices Saved when You're Back. GVFix can Stop GV from Opening a Userlist Window when Using /Names (I Hate that Window, I Had to Constantly Quit that Window when Joining or Using /Names But I Had Enough of it, and I Made an Option so it Would Stay Away and Not Bother Me). GVFix can Easily Connect to a Server from a Servers.list by Pressing a Key if You're Using the /Servers Command Provided by GVFix. GVFix can Easily Join a Channel from a Channels.list by Pressing a Key if You're Using the /Channels Command Provided by GVFix. Well Lot's Actually ... so Check it Out Soon :-) GVFix's Installation: --------------------- Delete in ENVARC:GVFix and ENV:GVFix Files Not Ending with: .list .default PREFS Delete GVFixPrefs.gvrexx, BanKick.gvrexx, WriteOps.gvrexx, Redirect.gvrexx, XDCC.gvrexx, GVFixPrefs, GVFixPrefs.info, CTCP.HELP, CTCP.SEND, CTCP.XDCC, CTCP.INVITE, CTCP.OP and CTCP.UNBAN in GV: and Remove the /GVFixPrefs, /BanKick, /WriteOps, /Redirect and /XDCC Aliases from Startup.gvrexx in GV: Since they're Internal Commands Now. Also NoInvite.gvrexx can be Removed Since it Actually isn't Really Necessary. Delete the 40 Bytes DCC Files in GV:DCC Since they are Replaced by 1 Dummy DCC Now. Protect +S the #?.gvrexx Files or they can't be Started by GVFix. Or Use -a when Using LhA to Unpack them so the Status Bits are Automatically Set the Way they Should be Set. Copy the Files from the Archive Directories to the Same Directories On Your Harddisk. And Copy the ENVARC:GVFix Directory to ENV:GVFix if You're Going to Start a New Version Without Resetting. Remove !X! from a File if You Want to Use that File or Keep Your Own File if You've Made Your Own ... (But Check if the Format in Your File Matches the !X! Marked Example File(s)). If You're Using an Old or Even Older GVFix with an Old or Even Older Friends.list Use FriendsListConverter.rexx or OldFriendsListConverter.rexx in the CLI to Convert it. The Nick in the Friends.list is Only so You Know which Nick Goes with which User@Host and isn't Checked when Checking a User Status. But You Shouldn't Change Much in the Friends.list Unless You Really Know what You're Doing Just in Case the User@Host Checking Get's Messed Up by it. Read the .gvrexx Scripts in GV: to See How they Work and what Parameters are Needed for Certain Functions. Or Start them Without Parameters to See what to do and the Same Goes for the Internal Commands. The FAQ: Directory is for a Faq.gvrexx Script Included With Grapevine. I Never Use it BTW. You don't Need to Quit and Restart GVFix when Updating or Changing Files Unless a New GVFix Executable is Installed. GVFix's Usage: -------------- Start GVFix in the CLI or with the Workbench. You can Supply CLI Parameters Just Like You can when Starting GV. When a Error Occurs when Starting GVFix You'll be Notified by a Message in the CLI or with a Window.
