BGBruce Abbott was born on July 28, 1954, in Portland, Oregon.
BGHis early life placed heavy emphasis on the physical activity
BGinherent in competitive sports until, in high school, his
BGbest friend literally pushed him into his first acting audition.
BGHe was promptly rewarded with the title role in an original
BGone-act play, which led to further speech and drama competition.
BGAfter four years of study at Portland State University, the
BGlure of acting and dance (ballet, jazz and modern) became the
BGfocus, and 15 regional plays immediately followed.  He became
BGa Renaissance dancer at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival in
BGorder to gain access to the acting company and, after a summer
BGseason, he was hand-picked to attend the exclusive and very
BGprestigious American Conservatory Theater training program.
BGBruce moved to Los Angeles in 1980, and, like many an aspiring
BGactor, spent 18 months waiting tables until he landed his first
BGHollywood part, a leading role in the movie, "T.A.G.".  Since
BGthen, he's never looked back.  Bruce has done numerous films,
BGamong them "Summer Heat" and the two "Re-Animator" movies.
BGTelevision and cable highlights include "Trapped", "Baja Oklahoma",
BG"Out of Time", "Dillinger", a recurring role on "Beauty and the
BGBeast", and the lead role in the late-night series "Dark Justice"
BGas the multi-dimensional Judge Nicholas Marshall.  In his future,
BGwhile continuing to act, Bruce hopes to add directing and producing
BGto his extensive career resume.

BGBruce's family roots remain in the Pacific Northwest, where he
BGfrequently visits his parents, two brothers and one sister.  He
BGconsiders his home life with his wife Kathleen Quinlan, and two
BGsons, Dalton and Tyler, to be the touchstones of his contentment.
BGSocially conscious, Bruce lends not only his name but his active
BGsupport to his two favorites charities, Heal the Bay and Children
BGof the Night.

TRBruce is 6 feet tall and weighs 170 lbs.
TRIn high school, Bruce was an amateur gymnast.  When the script
TRcalls for it, he can still leap, tumble and do back handsprings!
TRBruce's personal favorite role among all his portrayals has been
TR"Jack Ruffin" from Summer Heat.
TRIf the acting gig hadn't worked out, Bruce likely would have
TRturned to a career in psychology.
TRIn his spare time, he enjoys painting watercolors, and surfing.
TRHe also has a small business with his brother, selling
TRVictorian-era antique prints.
TRBruce and Kathleen were married in scenic Muir Woods, a national
TRmonument north of San Francisco in Marin County, amidst a stand

BGAbbott worked in carnivals while still a child and dropped out of
BGschool in 1909. He worked as assistant treasurer for the Casino
BGTheater in Brooklyn, then as treasurer or manager of various theaters
BGaround the country. He worked as straight man to vaudeville performers
BGsuch as Harry Steepe and Harry Evanson while managing the National
BGTheater in Detroit, and, in 1931 while cashiering at the Brooklyn
BGtheater, he substituted for comic Lou Costello's ill straightman.  The
BGtwo formed their famous comedy team and, through the 1930s, they
BGworked burlesque, minstrel shows, vaudeville and movie houses. In 1938
BGthey got national exposure through the Kate Smith Hour radio show, and
BGsigned with Universal the next year for their film debut in "One Night
BGin the Tropics."  Their 1941 movie "Buck Privates", with the Andrews
BGSisters, grossed what was then a company record $10 million, and in
BG1942 they topped a poll of Hollywood stars. They had their own radio
BGshow (ABC, 1941-6, NBC, 1946-9) and TV show (1952-3). After the war
BGtheir movies shifted formula to one in which they met various monsters
BGor found themselves in exotic locations.  The team split up in 1957
BGwith both members completely out of money after troubles with the
BGInternal Revenue Service.  Abbott started over with a new partner,
BGCandy Candido, in the 1960s but failed.  In 1966 he did voice for a
BGcartoon version of their television show.

BGHerman Brix was a star shot-putter in the 1928 Olympics. After
BGnearly getting the lead in MGM's 1932 Tarzan, he was picked by Edgar
BGRice Burroughs for his own production of "The New Adventures of
BGTarzan", the only one between the silents and the 1960s to present
BGthe character accurately, as a sophisticated, polyglot English
BGnobleman. Metro blocked "Adventures" out of most theaters, but it
BGwas very popular in the foreign markets, resulting in the "Green
BGGoddess" sequel made essentially of reworked footage from the earlier
BGmovie. After "Adventures" he made a number of serials for Republic,
BGincluding a Tarzan-like Kioga in "Hawk of the Wilderness" (1938).
BGAfter this he dropped out for a few years, took acting lessons, and
BGchanged his name to Bruce Bennett, dropping his Tarzan and athlete
BGconnections. He made many movies after that, gaining fame as a
BGleading man in many Warners products. In 1960 he retired from movie
BGmaking and went into business, becoming sales manager of a
BGmultimillion dollar vending machine company. In 1967 he returned to
BGacting in TV guest appearances.

BGTournament team.  Cousy has co-authored 6 books about basketball

BGBuster Crabbe graduated from the University of Southern California.
BGIn 1931, while working on "That's My Boy" for Columbia, he was
BGtested by MGM for Tarzan and rejected. Paramount put him in "King of
BGthe Jungle" as Kaspa, the Lion Man (after a book of that title but
BGclearly a copy of the Tarzan stories). Publicity for this movie
BGemphasized his having won the 1932 Olympic 400-meter free-style
BGswimming championship and suggested a rivalry with Weissmuller. Sol
BGLesser wanted him for an independent Tarzan (the Fearless), though
BGhe first had to get Jim Pierce to waive rights to the part already
BGgranted by his father-in-law, Edgar Rice Burroughs. The film was
BGreleased as both a feature and a serial; most houses showed only the
BGfirst serial episode which critics panned as a badly organized
BGfeature. Just prior to the film's release he married his college
BGsweetheart and gave himself one year to either make it as an actor
BGor start law school at USC. Paramount put him in a number of Zane
BGGrey westerns, then Universal put him in very successful sci-fi
BGserials (Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers) 1936-40. In 1940 he did a string
BGof Billy the Kid westerns. After World War II he did acted only
BGoccasionally, devoting much of his time to his swimming pool
BGcorporation and operation of a boys' camp in New York.

BGHer parents divorced when she was young. In her first year of high
BGschool she gave up dance for acting. After a little time in John
BGMurray Anderson's acting school she was in the off-Broadway "The Earth
BGBetween" (1923). Her Broadway debut in 1929 was in "Broken Dishes".
BGLate in 1930, on a six-month Universal contract, she arrived in
BGHollywood.  The studio representative who went to meet her train left
BGwithout her because he could find no one who looked like a movie
BGstar.  In 1932 she signed a seven-year deal with Warners. She wan
BGOscars for "Dangerous" (1935) and "Jezebel" (1938) and fought
BGunsuccessfully to break her contract between awards. She received
BGeight additional Oscar nominations including one for the role of
BGMargo Channing in "All About Eve" (1950), the role with which she
BGremains most identified.  A genuine box-office star in the 1930s and
BG1940s, all her films from 1953 to 1962 lost money; then "Whatever
BGHappened to Baby Jane" brought a new phase of stardom.  In 1979 she
BGwon a Best Actress Emmy for "Strangers" and in 1982 she moved from
BGConnecticut to L.A. to be in the 1982-3 TV series "Hotel" (illness
BGled to her replacement by Anne Baxter - shades of "All About Eve").
BGShe had three children, one of whom was severely retarded.  Her
BGdaughter B.D. wrote a 1985 scandal/bio "My Mother's Keeper".  In 1977
BGthe American Film Institute gave her its Lifetime Achievement Award

BGThe man behind the low woodwinds that open 'Citizen Kane', the
BG'shrieking violins' of 'Psycho' and the plaintive saxophone of 'Taxi
BGDriver', Bernard Herrmann was one of the most original and distinctive
BGcomposers ever to work in film.  He started early, winning a
BGcomposition prize at 13 and founding his own orchestra at 20.  After
BGwriting scores for Orson Welles' radio shows in the 1930s (including
BGthe notorious 1938 'War of the Worlds' broadcast), he was the obvious
BGchoice to score Welles' film debut, 'Citizen Kane', and subsequently
BG'The Magnificent Ambersons', though he removed his name from the latter
BGafter additional music was added without his (or Welles') consent when
BGthe film was mutilated by a panic-stricken studio.  Herrmann was a
BGprolific film composer, producing his most memorable work for Alfred
BGHitchcock, for whom he wrote nine scores.  Notoriously perfectionist
BGand demanding (he once said that most directors didn't have a clue
BGabout music, and blithely ignored their instructions - like Hitchcock's
BGsuggestion that 'Psycho' have a jazz score and no music in the shower
BGscene).  He ended his partnership with Hitchcock after the latter
BGrejected his score for 'Torn Curtain' on studio advice.  His last score
BGwas for Martin Scorsese's 'Taxi Driver', and he died just three days
BGafter recording it.  He also wrote an opera, 'Wuthering Heights', and a
BGcantata, 'Moby Dick'.

BGIves was one of six children born to a Scottish-Irish farming family
BGin Jasper County, Illinois. He first sang in public for a soldiers'
BGreunion when he was 4. In high school he learned the banjo and played
BGfullback, intending to become a football coach when he enrolled at
BGEastern Illinois State Teacher's College in 1927. He dropped out in
BG1930 and wandered, hitching rides, doing odd jobs, street singing.
BGSummer stock in the late '30s led to a job with CBS radio in 1940;
BGthrough his "Wayfaring Stranger" he popularized many of the folksongs
BGhe had collected in his travels. By the 1960s he had hits on both
BGpopular and country charts. He recorded over 30 albums for Decca and
BGanother dozen for Columbia.  In 1962 he was singer-narrator of
BG"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", an often-repeated Christmas
BGtelevision special. His Broadway debut was in 1938, though he is best
BGremembered for creating the role of Big Daddy in the 1950s "Cat on a
BGHot Tin Roof." His four-decade, 30+ movie career began as a singing
BGcowboy in "Smoky" (1946) and, reached its peak with (again) the Big
BGDaddy role in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and an Oscar for supporting
BGactor in "The Big Country", both in 1958. He officially retired to
BGAnacortes, Washington, at age eighty though he continued to do
BGfrequent benefit performances.

BGWhen at six months he tumbled down a flight of stairs unharmed he was
BGgiven the name "Buster" by Harry Houdini who, along with W.C. Fields,
BG"Bojangles" Robinson, Eddie Cantor and Al Jolson shared headlines with
BGThe Three Keatons: Buster, his father Joe and mother Myra. Their act,
BGone of the most dangerous in vaudeville, was about how to discipline a
BGprankster child. Buster was thrown all over the stage and even into
BGthe audience. No matter what the stunt, he was poker-faced. By age 21
BGhis father was so alcoholic the stunts became too dangerous to perform
BGand the act dissolved. He first saw a movie studio in March 1917 and
BGon April 23 his debut film, Fatty Arbuckle's "The Butcher Boy", was
BGreleased. He stayed with Fatty through fifteen two-reelers even though
BGhe was offered much more to sign with Fox or Warner after returning
BGfrom ten months with the 40th Infantry in France. His first feature
BGlength "The Saphead" established him as a star in his own right. By
BGthe middle of 1921 he was starring, directing and scripting through
BGBuster Keaton Productions. "The General" (1927), his favorite, was
BGonce of the last over which he had artistic control. In 1928 he signed
BGwith MGM and his fame dwindled. By 1932 he was divorced, reduced to
BGco-starring, and alcoholic. In 1937 he entered a mental hospital. In
BG1947 his career rebounded with a live appearance at Cirque Medrano in
BGParis. In 1952 James Mason, who then owned Keaton's Hollywood mansion,
BGfound a secret store of presumably lost nitrate stock films of
BGBuster's; Raymond Rohauer began serious collection/preservation of his
BGfilms. In 1957 he appeared with Chaplin in "Limelight" and his film
BGbiography "The Buster Keaton Story" was released. Two years later he
BGreceived a special Oscar for his life work in comedy. Festivals the
BGworld over acknowledged Buster until his death at age seventy.

BGIt's ironic that Martin Landau won an Oscar for impersonating Bela
BGLugosi (in 'Ed Wood') when Lugosi himself never came within a mile of
BGone, but that's just the latest of many sad ironies surrounding
BGLugosi's career.  A distinguished stage actor in his native Hungary, he
BGended up a drug-addicted pauper in Hollywood, largely thanks to
BGtypecasting brought about by his most famous role.  He began his stage
BGcareer in 1901, and started appearing in films during World War I,
BGfleeing to Germany in 1919 as a result of left-wing political activity
BG(he organised an actors' union).  In 1921 he emigrated to the United
BGStates and made a living as a character actor, shooting to fame when he
BGplayed Count Dracula in the legendary 1927 Broadway stage adaptation of
BGBram Stoker's novel.  It ran for three years, and was subsequently, and
BGmemorably, filmed by Tod Browning in 1931, establishing Lugosi as one
BGof the screen's greatest personifications of pure evil.  Sadly, his
BGreputation rapidly declined, mainly because he was only too happy to
BGaccept any part (and script) going, and ended up playing pathetic
BGparodies of his greatest role, for Abbott & Costello and others.  He
BGended his career working for the legendary Worst Director of All Time,
BGEdward D.Wood, Jr.  He was buried in his Dracula cape.

BGnuthin' 'bout birthin' babies"). Two other notable appearances
BGamong her string of silly maid parts were in "Flame Of The Barbary
BGCoast" and "Mildred Pierce." From 1947 to 1951 she was a regular on
BGthe radio show "Beulah" and then in the TV version 1950-52.

BGBorn in Fort Worth, Texas, Bill moved to Los Angeles at 18 where

BGCorman's New World Pictures. He made his film debut in the Corman film
BG_Crazy Mama (1975)_ directed by Jonathan Demme. Moving to
BGNew York, he studied acting under Stella Adler at New York

BGBill found steady work in low-budget films and TV. He also directed,

BG_Fish Heads (1982)_ which aired on "Saturday Night Live".
BGHis first appearance in a James Cameron film was a small role in

BGnomadic vampire Severen in Kathryn Bigelow's _Near Dark (1987)_.

BGsteadily in film and TV, his big break did not come until his lead
BGrole in the critically acclaimed film-noir _One False Move (1992)_.
BGThis quickly led to strong supporting roles as Wyatt Earp's naive
BGyounger brother Morgan in _Tombstone (1993)_ and as Fred Haise, one
BGof the three astronauts in _Apollo 13 (1995)_ as well as in
BGJames Cameron's latest offering _True Lies (1994)_. Most recently
BGBill has been cast as the lead in the Michael Chrichton-scripted

BGOriginally planning to become a lawyer, Billy Wilder
BGabandoned this in favour of working as a reporter for a
BGViennese newspaper, using this experience to move to
BGBerlin, where he worked for the city's largest tabloid.  He

BGscripts for many German films until Hitler came to power in

BGBubber startede sin karriere på den Københavnske Kanal 2, hvor han
BGvar med fra begyndelsen i 1984. I starten gik han til hånde i
BGprogrammet "To mand frem", evigt suttende på en slikkepind. Senere
BGkon han på skærmen i musikprogrammet "Mandaleg" sammen med Michael
BGBundesen og Anders Frandsen og fandt på de drabeligste ting. Bl.a
BGskar hen en af gæsternes bil over med en skærebrænder. Bubber fandt
BGså på ideen med at snakke til børn fra et badekar, men hans chef,
BGStig Hasner, var skeptisk - lige indtil de første optagelser af
BG"Bubbers Badekar" var i hus. I 1990 blev Kanal 2 splittet op - og
BGBubber blev arbejdsløs, og badekarret blev låst inde for en tid.
BGProgrammet blev senere genoptaget af TV2 og sådan gik det til at
BGBubber fik dit badekar tilbage og TV2 fik en kæmpesucces.
