AN AMIGA RUNNING WB2.04 OR ABOVE PREPARING ADVERTS (Standard Mode): ================================== Make a directory called rOADaDDS in your S: dir Copy 2 of your desired adverts into the S:rOADaDDS/ dir and name them as follows: rOADhEADER.txt <- This add will be pasted to the top of the textfile rOADtAiLER.txt <- This add will be pasted to the bottom of the textfile PREPARING ADVERTS (Random Mode): ================================ Firstly decide how many adverts you would like rOAD-aDDER to choose from. Currently rOAD-aDDER can select from as little as two adverts up to a maximum of nine ( Maybe more in next release if requested ). Once you have settled on the number of adverts, copy them to your S:rOADaDDS/ directory and name them as follows: rOADhEADER.txt1 rOADtAiLER.txt1 rOADhEADER.txt2 rOADtAiLER.txt2 rOADhEADER.txt3 rOADtAiLER.txt3 Continue numbering your adverts in this manner until you reach your desired amount rememberring not to exceed nine. Any adverts exceeding nine will simply not get used ! In Random Mode the standard rOADhEADER.txt and rOADtAiLER.txt are ignored and only the numerically suffixed headers and tailers are used. SAMPLE ADVERTS: =============== If you want to quickly see how rOADaDDER works I have supplied some sample adverts in a ready made rOADaDDS/ directory. Simply copy them to your S: dir and try some of the CLI examples listed below. Obviously you'll have to supply a text file to test it on though !!! 8) USING rOAD-aDDER FROM CLI: ========================== rOADaDDER [-opts] OPTIONS ------- no opts Standard Header and Tailer Adding -r# Activates Random Advert Selection -t Adds Upload Date and Time to Header and Tailer -r#t Activates Random Advert Selection and adds Upload Date and Time # Represents a value from 2-9 in relation to the number of random adverts to select from. Options are case sensitive so make sure all options are in lower case ! Examples: For standard Header and Tailer Adding your command line would be: eg: rOADaDDER dh1:text_stuff/test.txt To include the Upload Date and Time you would add the -t option: eg: rOADaDDER -t dh1:text_stuff/test.txt Assuming that you have 5 header and 5 tailer adverts correctly named as stated earlier in the preparing random adds section and you do not wish to add the Upload Date and Time, your command line should be as follows: eg: rOADaDDER -r5 dh1:text_stuff/test.txt If you wanted to include the upload date and time as well your command line would be: eg: rOADaDDER -r5t dh1:text_stuff/test.txt INSTALLATION ( FOR /X ): ======================== Make sure you have DOORS: assigned to BBS:Doors !!! Copy the entire rOADaDDER directory to BBS:DOORS/ Copy the icons from rOADaDDER/Fcheck/ to your BBS:Fcheck/ directory Assure that you have prepared your header and tailer banners and put them into your S:rOADaDDS/ directory. The supplied icons by defualt have the random add selection inactive and Time and Upload Adding Active. You can change the options to suit your needs to any of the following: OPTIONS=-r# Activates Random Advert Selection OPTIONS=-t Adds Upload Date and Time to Header and Tailer OPTIONS=-r#t Activates Random Advert Selection and adds Upload Date and Time. # Represents a value from 2-9 in relation to the number of random adverts to select from.
