Greed 2.1  from THE CODEX BBS, Atlanta, GA  (770) 473 - 6173

Greed is a dice game designed for one player, who may optionally play against
the computer.  This version of Greed was originally written by Fizban and Cregan,
for Image BBS on the Commodore 64, and converted to AREXX for CNet BBS by Spike.

New Features for 2.1:

RIP graphics terminal support (as CNet's tt4.)
Nicer graphics screens for all terminal modes.
Improved config options, and Pfiles:Greed.Config file.
Greed now keeps track of all-time winners, too.
Can now award PFile points as an option, along with Byte and File Creds.
Bonus connect time is now determined based on number of plays, within
time limits you select-- the more times the game is played in a week, the
higher number of minutes awarded.
Maint module is now smarter, and will abort if it gets run twice on the same
day.  It will also not update the winner's news file, if there were no
winners this time, so the old file continues to show.
End of game logic was fixed to prevent errors in case of a tie between
human and computer.  (Thanks, Spitfire, for reporting this!)

Installation/Operation:

First, unpack this archive.  (That goes without saying, since I couldn't be
saying that to you now if you hadn't already done so!)

Use the groovy Installer script included to setup the files, then follow the
instructions you see to hook Greed into CNet's P-files, News and AutoMaint
(Events), according to the options you've chosen.  In "Expert" mode, the
Installer will allow you to customize the awards that Greed will give winners.
The script is also aware of previous installations of Greed, so you can
choose to install directly over an older version safely.

Version 2.1 will create a new Pfiles:Greed.Config file.  All of the other files
will be copied to the directory you select for Greed's installation.

In CNet, add Greed as a Pfile for your users to play.  Greed will create two
high-score files in its directory.  When a player gets on the high-score list,
they may be awarded additional connect time as a bonus.  You may change
this value by changing the Pfiles:Greed.Config file.  A value of 0
will turn this award off.

Install GreedMaint as automaint.  I suggest you have it run once a week.
GreedMaint will reset the high-score files, and create a news file containing
the week's high-scorers for both catagories of play.  The high-scorers may
also be awarded download byte- and file-credits, or Pfile points.  These amounts
awarded are in the Pfiles:Greed.Config file.  Values of 0 will turn these
awards off.  GreedMaint will also send the winners mail, letting them know
they won, and informing them of bonuses awarded (if any).

Optionally, add "Greed Winners" to your news files list, so that your callers
can read the news of each week's winners.  This file will also be displayed
when a caller enters the game.

If you wish the winner news to automagically appear for your callers during
their first login after the maint runs each week, add this line to your
Systext:xxx.Welcome files: (It's automatically added to ALL of your
Systext:???.welcome files by the Installer script if you select the "AutoNews"
option.  Be sure that if you're updating a previous installation of Greed,
DO NOT choose the AutoNews, or this line will be doubled in your files!)

If, for some reason you don't wish to use the Installer script, simply
copy all of the files in the archive to Pfiles:Greed, and then copy the
Greed.Config file to the Pfiles: directory.  After that, just add Greed to
CNet's Pfiles, as usual.
