DiskValid For AFS ----------------- DiskValid checks an AFS partition to see if it is Valid (i.e. it has not been corrupted or damaged in any way). Useage:- DiskValid VOLUME: [VERBOSE] [FIX] [ANALYSE] When using verbose mode, diskvalid produces a lot of output - which, to speed up the checking, should be piped to a file. If the fix option is set then DiskValid will attempt to repair any errors on the partition. Currently only the bitmaps can be fixed by DiskValid. Analyse mode will report on how fragmented your files are. N.B. You may notice that DiskValid reports a number of blocks in the reserved area which are allocated but not used. This is due to a slight problem in AFS which has been fixed, and will be included in the next release. This does not cause any real problems, but the disk can be fixed using the FIX option in any case. Warning - Always make a backup of your partition before using the FIX option, just in case something goes wrong. Please report any problem/suggestions about the checker program to: afssupport@flevel.co.uk Trefor S. Fourth Level Developments.
