FLASH SOFTWARE FOR UK COURIER V.FC OR V.34 MODEMS
     
This software will configure your Courier modem with V.34+, 
V.34 and V.FC modulation. It will also add the latest 31.2 & 
33.6 Kbps modulation rates.
     
UPGRADABLE MODEMS:  This software may be loaded into any 
UK specification Courier V.FC or V.34 modem. It cannot be 
loaded into any Courier modem that does not have either V.FC, 
V.34, or a non-UK specification modem.

Note: Before you install this upgrade, please consult the section of 
your manual that explains how to use an SDL file.
     
Users should note the following steps when upgrading their modems.
     
1.      Record the users NVRAM settings that are stored. These are displayed 
        with ATI5.
     
2.      Disconnect the modem from the PSTN.
     
3.      Flash the modem using the SDL file, usage detailed below.
     
4.      Power cycle the modem.
     
5.      From a terminal (or terminal program) enter AT&F&W to the modem.
     
6.      Enter user settings followed by ATS54=64&W. This setting disables the 
        V8-CI which can cause some inconsistencies in connections if enabled.
     
SDL file usage :
     
 sdl [/c=n] [/i=n] [/a=n] [/b=n] [/?]
      /c=n : Com Port where n = 1,2,3,4
      /i=n : IRQ Number where n = 2,3,4,5,7
      /a=n : Port Base Addr where n = Hex Address of Port 
      /b=n : Bit Rate Where n = 9600,19200,38400,57600,115200 
      /q   : Quiet switch for use with batch files
      /?   : This message
     
EXAMPLES   : The command to set SDL to com port 1 with a bit rate of 19200 :
                  sdl /c=1 /b=19200 <cr>
     
             The command to set a custom port at com port 3 address but an 
             IRQ at 2 :
                  sdl /c=3 /i=2 <cr>
