Release Notes: -------------- This tool is an update to the original (and the best!) Ami-Express automatic re-registering tool. This latest version can re-register ALL versions of Ami-Express from /X3.3 through to /X4.x (Tested upto /X4.3). Therefore this tool will allow you to register any version you can find within this version span... It works by scanning through the Ami-Express code dissassembling and seeking out and removing all 'known' Ami-Express registration techniques. It does this however in an 'intellegent' way in that it is not restricted to one single version of /X. It does not take into account version dependant 'global' data references and so continues to work right across the spectrum of releases of Ami-Express`s... even the beta testing versions! This release is long in coming because we where not even going to release it again (see below for reasons why!) but after the complete BOTCH of everyone elses crack attempts at /X3.x we decided to do the right thing and release it once again for the world to use. Too many nerving stories of 'backdoor' fucked versions.. use this, grab a copy from a friend (if you can manage get it from someone who has registered?? A harder job that cracking it .. hehe ).. and be safe.. Why Release it so late? ----------------------- Well its been released so late because firstly we could not originally even be bothered to waste five minutes with a disk-monitor. When we seen how shit it was we thoughed.. "What the FU%^ is this??" To be honest I thoughed it was a fake........ my quote 'You gotta be kidding.. is this the /X4.x that you`ve gotta pay $55 for an update to?? Please tell me your WINDING ME UP?????????' I wouldn`t pay one dime.. I think calling this minor update 'Version 4.x' is a complete JOKE! The code is still laced with bugs, badly implemented ideas, awful code and pathetic coding practices (the "goto`s" in the source are great for readability.. NOT!) Okay lets look at what you get for your money... 1. HYDRA.. (well fuck me .. this bi-directional protocol is in the PD (the Complete fucking source to it!) All that was needed was for the /X coders to change the logfile output so that /X kept track of the file transfers (oh.. and changing 1 line to make the thing open in serial shared mode... ) How difficult..(NOT!) must have taken them all of 5 mins, then what goes and happens to the executable size?? It storms over the 300k barrier and ends up fucking 320k.. WHAT A JOKE.. Why did they not implement Hydra as a external module? Just using a Semaphore to pass information between each other?? Ah well... 2. QWK-MAIL REPLIES.. This should have been implemented when they 1st added QWK-Downloading.. again. boy this is hard stuff.. (NOT) QWK is pretty lame anyway... 3. TEXT-CONFIGURATION.. hahahahahahahahaha How very pathetic they are... Reverting back to /X2.x style configuration because their icon system is so great (wonder why?? Icons are just so really cool and fast so why should they need to do this??? heheh) Even then they have made editing the damn configuration harder than programming the fucking thing probably was... Why the fuck use braces {}}}}}} FUCKING HELL... NOT EVERYONE IS A C-PROGRAMMER ! Even the original /X2.x configration was better... and where is this 'all singing all dancing' configuration editor that has been promised??? 4. NEW PROTECTION... Oh dear another really really crap copy-protection why the fuck do they really bother with it?? I mean EVERY time it gets removed anyway... they could at least make it a bit more interesting.. a challege?? The thing is now, I`m not even sure if most people can even be bothered to install /X updates anymore...... (BANG! There goes another meg of fast..and for what?) 5. And possibly a few other insignificant little things and 1,00000`s of bugfixes and probably some new bugs added (spagetti coding rules.. its the if it works don`t mess with it motto... Professionalism at it highest..) Why even use /X? ---------------- To be honest you`d be far better of running S-Express.. I`ve heard from a few people that the new version of S-Express due out soon will sport the following features... 1. Full Bi-directional Hydra support.. 2. Unlimited conferences 3. Encrypted Password support 4. Full Compatibility with /X3.x & /X4.x 'user.data' & 'user.keys' for easy conversion from /X to S!X 5. Every single bit of text within S-Express will be changable by sysops so that every BBS running S!X can look different! and much much more.. so in our opinion your better off with S!X than /X4.x.. save your money.. get drunk... get laid... buy some food... buy a 28.8... get some cc`s... but DON`T waste your hard earned money on registering to /X4.x... you`ll be sorry... (MARK MY WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!) end.
