Chapter 8       Modemsettings

     8.1     The modem settings
     --------------------------
     Follow these advices to gain an as good transfer as possible:
     
     * Normally the best settings, in NT.CFG, are MODEM=3, HANGUP=1 and
       GUARD=150.
     
       Use HANDSHAKE=TRUE if you wish that the modem should "shake hands"
       in true RTS/CTS style. You normally want that if you have a Hayes
       compatible modem.
     
       BAUD=38400 or 19200 is the best if your modem is quicker than 9600 bps.
       The BAUD parameter stands for the speed between the modem and your
       computer, NOT between the two connected modems. Read the manual for
       your modem if you experience any problems with this.
     
     * Make sure that you in Workbench/Prefs/Serial set a very high buffer.
       Also set 8 characterbits, None parity and 1 stopbit (8N1).
       NT Pro will set all those values by it's own, but other programs might
       not.
     
     * Please try to use NTANSWER=TRUE in NT.CFG.
       That is so your modem won't pick up the phone if NT Pro isn't
       completely ready for next call yet.
       You should also have ATS0=0 set in your modem to make this work, which
       turns off the auto-answer function in your modem.
       When NT Pro receive the RING-signal, an ATA command will instead be
       sent to the modem and connection follows.
