Myself and a few other people have tested this program 100%. it WILL NOT harm your computer so Theres NOTHING to worry about.. I (Unlike some other P-File Authors) Have NOT installed any "Back-doors" or any other secret code as you can see by examining it. INTRODUCTION: Well one day after searching all the local CNET BBS's I could find, and then Digging through every Archive I could think of in the Internet, I came to the conclusion that if I wanted a program to check to see if it was a users Birthday at Log-on, I would have to write it myself! Thus, This is a Little AREXX program that checks each users Birthday against the current system date. If it is the users birthday a few things are set in motion: - The user is greeted during log-on with a Happy Birthday MCI screen. - There current WHO Banner is examined and saved to disk for use later. - The users who banner is changed to read: "Its My Birthday Today!!!!" Now the Next time the same user calls a few more things are dealt with. - Check to see if user has a WHO banner stored on the harddrive - if so it will check to see if it is still the users birthday (Calling Twice in one day Maybe?) - If it is no longer the users Birthday it will Load the WHO banner that has been saved on disk and restore it back to normal. - Finally the temporary who banner is removed from the harddrive (Just to keep things neat and tidy) INSTALLATION: Don't you hate Pfiles that take 3 days to install in 1,523 DIFFERENT Directories??? Well I Made this one as Easy as possible. OK, heres the installation instructions for Birthdays: First edit your Sys.welcome text located in the systext directory of CNET, add the following line to the end of it. #0pfiles:birthdays/Birthday} ^ | (This First Character is a Control Q of course) Next make a directory in your Pfiles directory called Birthdays. Now copy the Main program "Birthday" into the directory ya just created in pfiles called Birthdays. Thats all there is to it! Have fun and enjoy the Program! TESTING the Program: Now if any of you Sysop's out there would like to test and see that the Pfile if functioning, Simply change your birthday under EU (Edit user prefs) to the current date. Now relog (Or if loggin on for the first time, Make sure to hit the Space-bar to log on and not the Tab key or it will obviously skip the Sys.welcome file)) and you will see the happy Birthday screen..and when ya get to the main menu type who to see if the Banner changed. Now simply change your birthday back to what it should be, and relog once more...Notice the Birthday Greeting is gone and now your WHO banner has been restored.!! Now think about this: This may be a small and kinda' simple program, but think of the fun your users are gonna have with it! They will be happy know that you, as a Sysop, have taken the time to tell them Happy Birthday! secondly just Imagine their surprise when they do a WHO and see their banner has given em' away! This program DOES NOT reveal the users age in any way so I really do not anticipate ANY user getting upset at your running this program! So PLEASE think about registering this prog..After all it will be used EVERY time someone calls your BBS! :) Its a small amount of money WELL SPENT!
