Just a quick conversion of the Ami-Back 2 text file into something useable
by most Amiga users.

No complaints against Baser Evil. anyone who types in a manual has my
respect. What I have done is cleared up the odd typo, reformatted the text,
put pagenumbers in sensible places and formatted accordingly.

Please note, in the process of updating the index, I added some ommissions,
corrected some spellings, and re-arranged the index pointer.

Couple of other points you need to be aware of:

1. This document was created in Final Writer 3. It *may not* work with
versions prior to FW3.


2. The font used is the default sans serif font. Th eonly additional font
used was   for the Amib=Back title page.

2. The page layout has been formatted for a Deskjet 500 printer. It may be
different on yours. *see item 4!


3. Due to a bug in Final Writers printing process, it is not advisable to
print all pages at once... the page numbers will creep down the top of the
following page! Ok, ok, it isnt really a bug, but I cannot be bothered to
work out the exact paper size and edit area for a Deskjet. I was at it for
almost three hours today.... Therefore, I suggest you print a page at a
time, formfeed the printer, then print the next page. It aint elegant,
but it works :)


4. The page/edit area settings I have are as follows:

Layout/Page settings:
Page size:   A4
Orientation: tall
Print Area:  Deskjet
Pages:       left/right

Layout/Edit settings:

Edit Area:  Top     0.5"
            Bottom  1.0"
            Inside  0.75"
            Outside 0.75"
Margins for header: 0"
Margins for footer: 0"
Master Page Items:  All pages


5. Print back to back! It saves paper, and looks neater! Print the
following pages as single sided:

page 1 (Ami-back front page)
page 2 (Ami-Back credits, typed by Baser, formatted by PiLGRi/\/\)
page 3 (page -i- on the document: Table of Contents)
page 6 (page -iv- on the document: Installation)

Start back to bacing from page 7 - Zen of hard disk maintenance. It puts
page 1 on the right hand side of the document, where page 1 should be!
Before anyone disagrees, what side of the paper is Page 3 on... Tits in yer
face as soon as you open the paper!


6. Appendixes. Sharp eyed readers will notice that page 44 (page 38 on the
document) is blank bar the page number. This is intentional, as it allows
the appendices to begin on the right hand side, where they should be.
All the  appendices have a blank side to them, to allow the next
appendix to begin on a facing page on the right, rather than back of one
another. Aint worth nowt if it aint right!
