Sun Jun 28 07:56:44 1992 From SpaZm: PowerModem Setter 1.0: (PModem for short) Very Simple to set up if you look at the sample Pmodem.cfg file. I got tired of Users asking me How to set this modem. How to set that modem With this util you can add settings for each modem you have. PModem looks for its default file "PModem.cfg" in the S: directory. PModem can be run from WorkBench or CLI.. Since this is the first version, There is no frills. You must use a text editor to add default modems or enter your default serial.device string.. If you use one of the commented out serial devices in the sample config file, you can un-comment the line (and remove the rest or leave them). And PModem will come up with that device as the default. From WorkBench, Just click on the icon. from Cli, just type Pmodem.. or PModem yourconfgfile CONFIG FILE.... Ok Now to the config file. Comment begin with ';' it sees the rest of the line as a comment. The default name and path is "s:Pmodem.cfg" without the quotes. You can have one line in the config file that defines the serial device you are currently using.. OF course you may always enter by hand (into the serial device string gadget) the device you are using. the Format is : DEVICE = device.name All Other lines in the config file determine the name of the command & string being sent to the serial device/unit you select. After you set the serial.device and unit number. Click on the cycle gadget and find your entry, or the entry that describes your modem. Then click the SET BUTTON to dump to the modem. ADDING COMMAND NAMES AND STRINGS TO BE SENT TO THE MODEM You may add as many settings as you want.. just remember each line must have 2 strings. the first string is the command the second is the string being sent to the modem. string1 = string2 (string 2 is the command sent to the modem). NOTE: Make sure you don't have anything actively using the serial port your gonna set. Cause there is very little error checking.. It reads the PModem.cfg file and sends the command you enter out to the serial device you select in the gadgets. So get the unit number right before you click on set. ALSO Dont use over 24 chars for the command & 50 chars in the string. There are sample entries for setting modem ON HOOK, OFFHOOK, and Setting up a 16800/14400 Dual & HST in the sysop mode. The Dual & V32bis USRobotics entries are the ones I use. If you come up with valid entried send me the string for the Supra 14400 modem. After you edit PModem.cfg copy it to your s: directory. This is a part of the AmiExpress Utility Package We are expanding on. If you use AmiExpress or other Amiga Software, Purchase it.. Support the Programmers and the good software. NOTE: This version & the only real version says 1.0 in the Window. There was one that said 3.0 in the window.. That was a pre-rel. & may not set all your registers. so use the version that says 1.0....!
