@node PREFACE

Hi Janus bridgeboard user !!!

	In this archive you will find a useful commodity that shall expand
the capability of Commodore's janus bridgeboards. This software is of use
only if you are running Kickstart 2.04 and you own a Commodore 386SX
Bridgeboard. For SXServ you need at least an PC VGA gfx board in order to
use the switch to pc feature.

	In order to use this new tool you need to know what you are doing !
Some knowledge of the janus system and the files it incorporates is
required.

	If there is some feedback via email, I will think about doing some
more janus software .....

That's all 4 now .....

@endnode

@node FEATURES

	SXServ is a little commodity that combines some programs of the
original janus package such as PCReset,LPT1,LPT1X,Flipper and PCWindow.

	To use SXServ you have to copy the program into the sys:WBStartup
drawer. You have to edit the following tooltypes then:

How to use SXServ :

1. SXTOGGLE_Hotkey = <Shortcut to toggle between AMIGA and BridgeBoard VGA
                      display>
2. SXFLOPPY_Hotkey = <Shortcut to toggle between AMIGA and BridgeBoard
                      floppy access> This replaces the original Flipper tool.
                      Of course an A2386 bridgeboard is required.
3.  SXLPT_Hotkey    = <Shortcut to activate/deactivate lpt emulation>

3.  SXRESET_Hotkey  = <Shortcut to do a hardware reset>

4.  CX_POPKEY       = <Shortcut to popup GUI>

	After you have pressed the SXTOGGLE_Hotkey the emulation window
opens and the switchmodul* will switch over to the PC VGA display. The pc
keyboard is emulated.

* With a little circuit you can realize an electronic monitorswitch with the
  A2386 bridgeboard. The switch is plugged into the minidinconnector at the
  back of the commodore sx board.

 if you don`t want to build your own switcher you can order it from, only mail
order, cash:

                          Andreas Goiczyk
                          Schillerstraße 5
                          46047 Oberhausen
                          049 (0)208 878155
                          Germany

it costs 70 $ including shipping

@node TOOLTYPES
                           Tooltype descriptions

There are some supported tooltype parameters:

SXTOGGLE_HOTKEY
  Shortcut to toggle between AMIGA and BridgeBoard VGA display. Of course
this option is only available if you own a C= 386SX Board (2386) and if the
electronic monitor (mentioned in @{"Features" Link "FEATURES"}) is connected to the
bridgeboard. This function is also available in the user interface.

SXFLOPPY_HOTKEY
  Shortcut to toggle between AMIGA and BridgeBoard floppy access. This
replaces the original Flipper tool. Of course an A2386 bridgeboard is
required. This function is also available in the user interface.

SXLPT_HOTKEY
  With this tooltype you can change the shortcut which
activates/deactivates the lpt emulation. You can also use the user
interface to do activation/ deactivation of lpt port. This replaces the
LPT1/LPT1X tool of the original janus package.

SXRESET_HOTKEY  =
  This allows to change the shortcut which does a hardware reset. This reset
is the same as you would run the PCReset program of the janus package.

CX_POPUP
  If you specify YES as parameter the user interface opens if the program
is started.

CX_POPKEY
  This allows to change the shortcut which pops up the user interface.

@node GADGETS

                          Gadget descriptions

Most gadgets are pretty much self explanatory but here follows a short
description.

@{B}"Activate parallel port"@{UB}
  If this checkbox is enabled lpt printer port emulation is activated. You
are then able to redirect bridgeboard printer output as specified.

@{B}"direct cia access"@{UB}
  If this gadget is enabled all printer output is done by directly
programming the CIA parallel port registers. Nevertheless this is done in
a system-friendly way because SXServ tries to alloc the parallel port
first.
  If this gadget is not enabled all output is done via printer.device if
output to file is not enabled.
  Of course "direct cia access" is the fastest way to emulate the lpt
printer port.

@{B}"output to file"@{UB}
  If you activate this checkbox all lpt output is redirected into a file
which filename can be specified in the string kind gadget below this
checkbox. Because the printer data is not buffered in any way file output
is quite slow. If you want to access the printer data file on the amiga
side you have to deactivate the lpt emulation first because the file
remains open as long as the emulation is active.

@{B}"outputfile"@{UB}
  With this string gadget you can specify the filename which is used for
the printer data file. If you select the picker at the right side of the
string gadget you are able to choose a filename via a comfortable asl
filerequester.

@{B}"Attach floppy to.."@{UB}
  Listview gadget to toggle between AMIGA and BridgeBoard floppy access.
This replaces the original Flipper tool. Of course an A2386 bridgeboard is
required. You may also use the cursor keys to toggle floppy access.

@{B}"Switch to PC"@{UB}
  Gadget to switch to BridgeBoard VGA display. Of course this option is
only available if you own a C= 386SX Board (2386) and if the electronic
monitor (mentioned in @{"Features" Link "FEATURES"}) is connected to the
bridgeboard.

@{B}"Reset PC"@{UB}
  This gadget does a hardware reset if you select it. This reset is the
same as you would run the PCReset program of the janus package.

@{B}"Save"@{UB}
  The save option is not yet available.

@{B}"Use"@{UB}
  This gadget deactivates the user interface.

@{B}"Quit"@{UB}
  This button removes the whole commodity if selected.
