BirthDayDoor v3.0 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For MAX's BBS v1.52-54 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ By Greg Fitch ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Legal: --------------------------------------------------------------------- This Door is freeware, so if you paid for it then please let me know where you got it from and what you paid. This archive must be as is was when made with the exception of origin text files that may be added. YOU RUN THIS DOOR AT YOUR OWN RISK I EXCEPT NO RESPOSABILITY FOR ANY HARM IT MAY CAUSE AT ALL. The Archive must contain the following files: BirthDays/ BirthdayDoor_V3.0 (The Door ItSelf) BirthDay.text (Ansi To Display On BirthDay) Foo Bar (Example User Date Text File) BirthdayDoor_V3.0.Doc (Your Reading It) --------------------------------------------------------------------- What it Does: --------------------------------------------------------------------- It checks for a data file in the Doors:BirthDays/ directory and if there is no data file for the user it then asks them for their birthdate and saves it into said directory, if the data file is there it look at it and if there is no match in the dates it exits but if there is a match it then displays an ANSI screen and adds 30 minutes to there time as a gift from the SysOp, if you don't like this addition don't use this door, but I think that it's fair as we all only get one bithday a year and this is a cost free gift to the users that just happen to login on their birthday and that is rare. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Easy to do just copy the whole BirthDays directory across to your doors directory then add it to your MainDoor.text. Eg. BirthDays/BirthDayDoor_V1.9 You can also edit the ansi to look how you want, but don't forget the screen clearing code at the top and the %Z at the bottom. And thats about it. All users that logon once it has been installed will be asked once for their date of birth and it will add their file to the BirthDays directory and check it each time they logon, it is also a good idea to check these files from time to time to make sure that the users have filled the date out right the date format is: MM-DD-YYYY :if it is not right just edit it in a text editor. The data files are very small (11 Bytes each) I have 107 so far and the total room they takeup is 1177 Bytes or 1.177 K. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Why Check These Things: --------------------------------------------------------------------- I have tried to make this door as work free for you as I could but like any door of this type there is bound to be somthing you have to do, but I hope you like it and use it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Known Bugs: --------------------------------------------------------------------- May turn BBS screen to the color of workbench but this may be dependent on memory addresses I think as I have a few that do this (ones I didn't write) this can be cured when it happens by clicking the screen to the back then and bringing it to the front again, this is not realy a bug and may be somthing to do with the compiler or librarys if you know what causes this please let me know and I will try to fix it. It has no other bugs that I know of. --------------------------------------------------------------------- History: --------------------------------------------------------------------- V3.0 Fixed the bug that caused some machines to lockup if someone entered a number outside the two digit month setting users can't enter a number higher than 12 or lower than 01 or a single number now in the month field V2.0 Removed the need for the year file so you can dump it if you want as it's no longer used. V1.9 Split the date of birth question into 3 parts to make it easer for users to enter the date corectly, also made it so they can't skip any part of it (still keep an eye on the files though). V1.8 Added External Year File So That The SysOp Didn't Have To Edit All The Dates Entered By The Users To Match Current Year. V1.7 Added External Ansi So SysOps Could Use Their Own Ansi Screen For Happy BirthDay Message. V1.6 Added To The Question So The User Could Understand What They Had To Put Into The Answer Slot. V1.5 Bugs Fixed Got Confused Sometimes About Data File Existence. V1.1 [First Public Release] Added Question If Data File Couldn't Be Found So It Could Make One, SysOp Still Had To Edit The Year. V1.0 [BETA] Added Data File Check And If Not There Will Ask User To Let The SysOp Know What Their BirthDate Was. V0.9 [BETA] Base Door All Dates Had To Match Current Year And Used Hard Coded Ansi For Happy BirthDay Display. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to all the other SysOps that have done up the source codes for Max's BBS as that helped me sort out this one. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bug Reports: --------------------------------------------------------------------- XyonicS BBS +61-7-808-4806 HOURS 8:30pm - 7:00am 7days XMAXNET 292:363/805.0 MEGANET 929:181/849.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks.
