General Notes ------------- The lead feature is down as 9 pages, organised as: DPS DPS RH DPS RH LH I have provisionally divided them up as follows: (1-2) Main introduction, including large into pic. (3-4) An example of how to create a multimedia system. This spread will consists of example screens for an application. Pictures will radiate from a central image, and there will be lengthy captions. Text will run around the edges. (5-6) Reviews of graphics related equipment (7-8) Reviews of sound related equipment (9) General jargon, contact numbers, comparison charts. There are four file archives, each sent separately: intro - the introduction author.lha - the example application reviews1.lha - the graphics and sound kit review2.lha - software reviews, comparisons and details The main point of this lead feature is how to go about writing a multimedia application. Unlike last months Scala advert, this is about actually and practically using existing products to make something useful. The 'something' could be a game or it could be commerical project. The focus is actually *doing it*. Although current state-of-the-art hardware is reviewed, emphasis is also given to cheaper (or free) alternatives via the 'Bargain boxouts'. Design Notes (to be freely ignored) ------------ If possible, I would like the design to reflect a consistant approach across all the 9 pages. I know this isn't easy.. The subect is multimedia, and a common occurance in these hypermedia type thingies are control buttons on the screen, rather like video-tape controllers. How about placing these buttons at the bottom of each page, almost as though the article itself where a hypermedia application which the reader was viewing?
