Former inland county of Scotland, included in
the Borders region 1975. The area is mainly
hilly, suitable for sheep grazing, and
industries include wool, tanning, and
electronics. The chief rivers are the Tweed,
Yarrow, and Ettrick. The adminstrative
headquarters was Selkirk.
