Empire of the Turkish people (converted to
Islam during the 7th century) under the
leadership of the invading Tatars or Seljuk
Turks. The Seljuk Empire 1055-1243 included
all Anatolia and most of Syria. It was
succeeded by the Ottoman Empire.
