Australian bird, genus Atrichornis, of which
there are two species, both about 18 cm/7 in
long, rather wrenlike but long-tailed. Scrub
birds are good mimics. The noisy scrub bird
Atrichornis clamosus was feared to be
extinct, but was rediscovered, although
numbers are still low.
