In economics, the `law of markets' formulated by Jean-Baptiste Say (1767-1832) to the effect that supply creates its own demand and that resources can never be under-used. Widely accepted by classical economists, the `law' was regarded as erroneous by J M Keynes in his analysis of the depression in Britain during the 1920s and 1930s.
