Myanmar (Burmese) soldier and politician.
Appointed head of the armed forces in 1985 by
Ne Win, he led a coup to remove Ne Win's
successor, Maung Maung, in 1988 and became
leader of an emergency government, which,
despite being defeated in the May 1990
election, remained in office.
