Stretch of water between SW Wales and SE
Ireland, linking the Irish Sea with the
Atlantic. It is 160 km/100 mi long and 80-150
km/50-90 mi wide. It is also the name of a
channel between New Britain and New Ireland,
Papua New Guinea.
