First day of the week; in Christianity,
Sunday is set aside for worship in
commemoration of Jesus' resurrection, and in
predominantly Christian societies banks,
offices, and many shops are generally closed.
It replaced the Jewish Sabbath, or day of
rest, observed on Saturday.
