Former county of Scotland. In 1975 most of it
was merged with Central region, but a SW
section, including Kilsyth, went to
Strathclyde. The area lay between the Firth
of Forth and Loch Lomond, and included the
Lennox hills and the fringe of the Highlands.
The county town was Stirling.
