Two species of fish. The red mullet Mullus
surmuletus is found in the Mediterranean and
warm Atlantic as far N as the English
Channel. It is about 40 cm/16 in long, red
with yellow stripes, and has long barbels
round the mouth. The grey mullet Crenimugil
labrosus lives in ponds and estuaries. It is
greyish above, with longitudinal dark
stripes, and grows to 60 cm/24 in.
