Town in E Ontario, Canada, on Lake Ontario;
population (1981) 60,313. Industries include
shipbuilding yards, engineering works, and
grain elevators. It grew from 1782 around the
French Fort Frontenac, was captured by the
English 1748, and renamed in honour of George
III.
