King of Scotland from 1329, son of Robert I
(the Bruce). David was married at the age of
four to Joanna, daughter of Edward II of
England. In 1346 David invaded England, was
captured at the battle of Neville's Cross and
imprisoned for 11 years. After the defeat of
the Scots by Edward III at Halidon Hill 1333,
the young David and Joanna were sent to
France for safety. They returned 1341. On
Joanna's death 1362 David married Margaret
Logie, but divorced her 1370.
