Religious movement founded 1840's by
Mirza Ali Mohammad (`the Bab'). An offshoot
of Islam, its main difference lies in the
belief that Muhammad was not the last of the
prophets. The movement split into two groups
after the death of the Bab; Baha'ullah, the
leader of one of these groups, founded the
Baha'i faith.
