Wild species of cattle Bos banteng,
now scarce, but formerly ranging from Myanmar
(Burma) through SE Asia to Malaysia and Java,
inhabiting hilly forests. Its colour varies
from pale brown to blue-black, usually with
white stockings and rump patch, and it is up
to 1.5 m/5 ft at the shoulder.
