Baluch, or Baluchi Native to or an inhabitant of Baluchistan, a region in SW Pakistan and SE Iran on the Arabian Sea. Their common religion is Islam, and they speak Baluchi, a member of the Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. Much of Baluchistan is rugged and mountainous, and in the drier areas the Baluch make use of tents, moving when it becomes too arid. Although they practise nomadic pastoralism, many are settled agriculturalists.
