In medicine, a connection between two vessels 
(usually blood vessels) in the body. Surgical 
anastomosis involves the deliberate joining 
of two vessels or hollow parts of an organ; 
for example, when part of the intestine has 
been removed and the remaining free ends are 
brought together and stitched.
