1886-1957. English film director. He
initially went to Hollywood to film his stage
success Journey's End 1930, and went on to
direct four horror films: Frankenstein 1931,
The Old Dark House 1932, The Invisible Man
1933, and Bride of Frankenstein 1935. He also
directed Showboat 1936.
