1775-1856. English Neo-Classical sculptor. He
studied under Antonio Canova in Rome and was
elected to the Royal Academy, London in 1811,
becoming a professor there from 1827 to 1854.
His works include monuments in Westminster
Abbey and in St Paul's Cathedral, and the
Achilles statue in Hyde Park, all in London.
